I hope this is a decent one for my 12-year old daughter?

On sale for $199.99 and will pick it up today/tomorrow fully assembled.

Got their 3 year parts and labor guarantes that includes 2 'tune-ups' during that timeframe.

Caitlin will not be riding it on any rough terrain, and feel this is a good fit for her that should last for years.

Added a kickstand, and out the door for $270.00 total.

Thoughts?

;)

It looks good. With the maintenance and warraties, you cannot go wrong.

If you are looking for just a bike to ride on and off the street, that will work just fine. If you want a crazy bike for extreme mountain bike riding you will be looking into the $800 - $1600 price range (and sometimes more). That looks fine. If you dont know much about bikes then just take it to them every year or so depending on how much you ride it for a tune up (dont quote me on prices for a tune up, its been at least 10 years since i have rode, and the warrenty should cover that anyway). Not a bad deal in my opinion.

My daughter's ex-husband works at "Dick's". We both thought that was very appropriate. :D

Very cool.

I feel good about the purchase, and currently 'hiding' the bike at a friend's right around the corner from me.

Positive comments from him as well!

I am sure Caitlin will be pleased with her Christmas gift.

I am unaware of this "mountain bike" video game. Do you need a big screen tv to play it?:D

Seriously did you get a cool helmet for her too?

Diamondbacks are decent bikes and for a 12 year old you cant beat it or the price. I would double check everything as many times the larger box stores do not have bike mechanics assemble the bikes. Sounds trivial but if the brakes are not adjusted correctly they can be pushed into the spokes and your daughter can flip or they don't stop it at all. The handle bars can move, or the seat fall just some examples. You can always bring it to a local shop to have them go over it.
