I just get tired of reading gibberish.

Honestly, it's bad enough to speak poorly aloud, but that's usually decipherable because it's meant to at least sound SOMEWHAT like proper speech, and word recognition is based on sound and not pictographs or alphabets (as it is in written form.)

That thought doesn't translate well into textual communication, because at that point instead of simply being able to read it at its face and understand what is written (or in this case typed), you have to pretty much say it out loud, THEN listen to what you are saying to figure out what it is meant to be phonetically, THEN try to figure out what word that actually is as opposed to what has been barfed onto the page.

For the amount of effort it took to learn improper grammar and spelling, one could just as easily learn proper grammar and spelling. I don't get the mental block here, if they are able to communicate using the wrong linguistic rules but in a uniform way, they are capable of understanding the structure of the proper usage of the language they are butchering.

Yep. I went to school and learned proper English. I don't think giving a pass on basic communication skills in an environment where communication is pretty much the cornerstone of why the environment exists in the first place is an unreasonable request, and hardly comparable to personality quirks and personal opinions. We're not asking him to pledge a blood oath and swear his first born child just to post here, we just ask that the poster use a fundamentally understandable form of the English language. Why is that hard at all?
