I'm big on sound and exhaust tone..I don't think a 2.0 or 2.4 would tingle my senses :( Looks cool though

Will never be the same as the original. Just a mod motor with a turbo slapped on it.

It will look like any other Mustang and not stand out. Unlike the SVO. Love the SVO.

Couldnt be more right. Sticker kit with some wheels....

Completely DISAGREE guys!

A small turbocharged 4 cylinder engine with a specific handling package is NOT a sticker kit with some wheels.

A GT/CS is a sticker kit Mustang.

I think that it's great that Ford is bringing back the SVO Mustang!

We are lucky to witness such recent retro-Mustangs as:

Bullitt
Mach 1
Cobra
5.0 GT
Boss 302
GT 500 Shelby
and now
The SVO!

If you want a bland car that won't stand out...go buy an SHO.

BTW: The original SVO had a Pinto motor with a turbo slapped on it.
I'd rather have a smoooooth EcoBoost DOHC 4 cylinder anyday.

Basically, but forged pistons, different head design, intakes, blah blah blah. But yeah, a 2300cc inline4

I'd pass and I'd pass on the Eco-boost too.

I have driven an Eco F-150 the drone from the engine is enough to want you to drive off a cliff. I recently drove a regular 3,7l F-150 and if your in the market for a 6 banger I would check it out. Not as peppy as the Eco but no slouch either and no annoying drone.

i think the svo should have the eco boost 6cyl in it lol

A 2.7L 4-banger would have some torque to it and could easily see 300hp at the wheels with a tune and maybe open the intake some. Now factory in the weight of the car, should be less than 3500-3600 dressed weight.

if they are to do it it should be the v6 the car is just too fat for a four popper even on a diet it will be near the two ton mark eco boost 6 yes eco boost 4 hell no

I remember my first car. A Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Basically same engine as the SVO. Had some get up and go for a heavy 4cly turboed 5sp car.

But if I recall. Wasn't the SVO the first production car, at least first American production car to have 4 wheel disc brakes as standard equipment? (not an option like the 69 Camaro JL8 rear disk brake option) And adjustable Koni shocks to boot too.

A new SVO just wouldn't have that same kind of wow so cool factor for me. The original SVO really was built by the SVO team in the day. Which also made it even more special.

I'm just being picky............. But I can.

Would be interesting to see if once they do make will anyone take the EcoBoost 4 and put it into an original SVO. Heck even slap one into a a Ranger or regular Foxbody Mustang.

I never had an SVO Mustang but my 1st car was a Merkur XR4TI
Now who remembers that car... I put a front mount tintercooler kit on from a cosworth RS500. That & some tuning brought the engine to more powerful than the SVO's but still the same powerplant. But the fully independent suspension out did the SVO & was a great 1st car. I still own. Just got a new Esslinger D-port all AL head for it. Ill be pushing around 400RWHP with the newest motor & car setup.

That's amazing. That would have been perfect in my T-bird Turbo Coupe that I had.

Those Merkurs were sweet rides!!

Who is doing your machine work 2.3L build?

I have a Turbo T-Bird block, Ranger 2.5L crank, Crower rods and an ported Esslinger D Port head waiting for a build , then into the '84 Mustang GT Turbo!
I need someone who knows how to build a stout 2.3L motor....

Im a V8 guy through and through. The only reason I wouldnt mind an ecoboost mustang, is the 6cyl ecoboost is built right down the road at cleveland engine plant no.1. this engine in more cars = more jobs perhaps? That would be a good thing.

A company in Florida called "Racer Walsh" is going to do alot of the balanced assembly work... They are quite well known within the 2.3L turbo market.

The Merkur XR4Ti's were ahead of their time and are today still quite nice looking. I am a big fan of the 2.3L engines. My fantasy car would be a turbo 2.3 pinto!

My dad had 2 of those, 1 stick snd 1 auto. Had alot of fun romping around the Cape as a kid in them.

No major mods but the were fun cars. They both went to hell and he sold them.

I want to pick one up one day. I'd like to fix it up and then show up at my dads house to give it to him.

My old man had a black SVO back in the day. I remember him walking a vette on the highway with it. Guy in the vette said hes never been beat like that by a 5.0. He didnt believe my dad when he told him it was a 4 cylinder.
