View Full Version : Looks like a trip to the body shop...
I never thought it would happen.
I always park as far as possible from dingers out in the farthest spots in all parking lots.
Today as I was running back to my car in the middle of the Lowe's parking lot, I witnessed it myself.
Must have been going thirty MPH upon impact with my right front fender...
There was nothing I could do to stop it and it was a hit-and-run.
I immediately went into the store and got a manager. She took pictures of the damage and said the insurance company would call me tomorrow.
Damn shopping carts. I've never seen anything like it before. Texas wind and plastic shopping carts are a new parking hazard on my list now...
So much for keeping my car pristine and like-new.
Crap.

I hope Lowe's squares you away!
Out of curiosity,.. was it the Lowe's in Killeen? I was there yesterday, around lunch. Before the winds started kicking 20+ mph.

I mean if they can not put a brake on the darn things they should at least
have a HILL in thier parking lot on which we can park at the top

Bummer! Always park on the high ground, it's not a cure all, but it saves you most of the time. Remember Murphy's Law, if there is a shopping cart on the lot, my car suddenly becomes one powerful magnet. Down with shopping carts!!!!!

I usually take 10-12 P.O.S. cars to surround my car in a circle when I go out. :D

ik04,
I always look to park at the East side of any concrete based light post, 70/80 yards from the entrance. At that distance, even the odd shopping cart blown by the prevailing West wind will smack the concrete first...
My wife no longer thinks I'm crazy for taking such precautions...NOW that she knows about all of You guys. How sweet it is !
It was indeed the Lowe's in Killeen. Tom.
Haven't heard from the insurance company.
My car is dirty and needs an oil change.
Good reason to take emergency leave, hmmmmm.
Still bummed,
Kevin

What we need is for each store that has shopping carts to set up a hangman's gallos for the ignorant lazy S.O.B.'s that can't return their carts to the cart corral.

IT'S JUST A CAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
(Thats what my wife would say!!! :) )
Sorry to hear about your dent. But body shops have come a long way in the last 20 years. You will never be able to tell it was damaged.
I have a Z shaped scratch about the size of a dime on the back of my FORD van. 10 years old, 23,000 original miles, and some moron hit it on the back left corner with something. Of course my brother owned the van from 2001 to 2003, it happened while he had it. Knowing my brother, some meter maid probably hit it with her clipboard while my brother was illegally parked somewhere. From 1994 to 2001, and since I bought the van back from my brother...... I don't allow dents and scratches. :nono:

Not to de-rail your thread but I know how you feel. Sunday I noticed somebody had keyed my trunk and bumper. $670.00 in damage. Body-shop said to try and buff it first. I'll try but I don't think it's gonna work. :bigcry:

I'm with you on that one!! Nothin' tees me off more than to see somebody trying to turn the cart "just so" between cars, so they don't have to drag their lazy azzez to the cart return!!!

That sucks :( Someone keyed my sons car, two doors and the rear bumper $850.00. That is an out of pocket expense unless you have zero Deductable. My son has $500.00 D , so rather than making a claim we paid for the repair. :(
