Looking to get a 4-channel amp for the Marauder, 2 channels to run front components and bridge the rear channel to run a sub.

Stuck between these two amps. Trying to stay under $200 for the amp as I'm not going for SPL or anything like that just need something to project over my exhaust. Running stock headunit but will be using a re-Q5 signal processor as the high low converter.

Here are the amps:

JL Audio JX360/4 360W Amp 4-Channel Class A/B

MB Quart ONX4.125 1000W ONYX Series 4-Channel

I've searched online as far as reviews and it's about a 50/50 for people who have had no problems with them and others where they just weren't pleased.

Anyone used either of these amps or have any insight?

My last options might be a Rainbow iPaul 4.300 or MB Quart Q4.150 amp.

Also looking into this one mainly because it's a 4-channel Class D unit, a lot of the other amps I have been looking at are Class A/B.

Could try talking with SilverSurfer. He and a friend competed in the car audio world for years, then he was a judge. He may have some idears as to which one to go with.

Yeah I remember, I used to be at some of the db drags and used to work for Tweeter.

I used this. I have been very happy with it, but Crutchfield has stopped selling it.

Both are great amps bro, you cant go wrong with either. I would go with the one that is most aesthetically pleasing to you. Make sure to post a ton of pics!

I've really been thinking about the Alpine only because it is a Class D and I know it would work better for my 3 channel setup since the amp will be producing 4ohm load for the front speakers and 2ohm load for the rear channels bridged powering the amp. Class A/B amps will get a lot hotter when running different ohm setups especially entry level amps.

Go with JL Audio. They rate their amps at 12 volts not 14.4. They are an extremely strong amp. I'm fried many amps, never fried a JL audio.

JL Audio has excellent customer service and that would be enough to make my decision but also they're reliable as hell

Yeah I know all about IL, used to be sponsored by them. The issue I have is their amp that im looking at in the price range has question reviews. I'm really thinking about the Alpine because I have only seen good reviews, nothing bad about the amp plus same price as the JL and I'm charging 14.3-14.4, and ill be doing the big 4. Its JL 's HD, XD and Slash series are the real deal but that's why you pay a dollar a watt plus $50.

So I ended up going with the Alpine MRX-F30 4-channel amp. $159.98 shipped, couldn't beat that price for a Class-D amp, should be pushing 75-80 watts to the front components and 275-300 watts to the sub.

I think my Taurus has spoiled me with being so quiet and the factory sound system having two subs in the rear deck, I hardly ever turn the volume up past 1/4 and the bass is set at zero and it's still really boomy. Been driving the MM a lot more since I racked up almost 30k miles in the Taurus in the past two years and have less than 12k miles left on the premium warranty so I want to make that last as long as I can.

Once I have all the parts to my upgrade project I'll take pics and start a new thread.

Not sure, still waiting on the amp, speaker wire, reQ-5 sound processor, sound dampening material and install accessories to be delivered. Won't be any crazy install just simple and effective.
