Autoweek has an article about buying used Marauders (old and new gen). Its short, but nice to see someone value our cars.

Glad to see someone remembers the Marauder even though they got many of their facts wrong.

The only facts that I disagree with is the criticism of the 4.6L DOHC modular engine. Not many problems noted here over the years and several are already up over 200,000 miles. Most of the engine issues have been related to maxing out power on the aluminum block somewhere in the 500 HP range. In N/A or stock trim, I haven't heard of major problems. Seems this one in the article may have been abused or the previous owner was a little lax on routine maintenance like oil changes and such. Or maybe they tried to run a tank of Kerosene through it as one guy found doesn't work well. :D
The 5.4L won't drop right into the engine compartment on the Marauder.
Not sure I'd agree with the "psychotic" following .... unless they were thinking about just a couple of our special folks. ;)
Not many Marauders in Hawaii. I estimated that they only got about 44 total and had about 26 remaining as of November 2010. Probably down to about 20 MM by now.

Yes it will. My 2003 Vic has a 5.4L in it and it fits just fine.
I've also come to believe that even the 5.4 DOHC heads could fit in a Marauder without much modification. There's a member on here who is very knowledgeable about that swap, but he may want to remain unnamed.

Regardless of information accuracy regarding tech spec's, its good to see an article that positions Marauders as a vehicle who's value is as unique and hard to define, as each of the examples that remain out of total production numbers......:banana2:
If only some people here would either support this undeniable truth or say nothing....... I know, long shot:rolleyes: ......... This is called common sense...In the real world.....

Actually Billy a 5.4 won't directly fit into the MM engine bay. There are clearance issues with the cowl area. Not saying it can't be done but Steve Babcock said they tried to put the 5.4 in and it was a no go as Ford would not give him the budget to massage the engine bay.:)

Do you have a source on this? My engine bay is the same size as yours. The 5.4 block drops in just fine and the 5.4 2v heads fit just fine. I can't say for sure what kind of fitment the 5.4 4v heads would be, but I do know that that swap can be done.
In pre-03 cars, including the cars that they would have created a concept for the marauder with, neither the 5.4 sohc nor the 4.6 dohc are as easy to fit in. The frame was redesigned in 2003.

It was just an estimate of the distribution of MMs across the states, etc. Based on % of population. Just trying to get a handle on how many may have ended up across the country. Distribution by population seemed to be a reasonable starting assumption although I suspect that more MMs may have ended up east of the Mississippi and in the more southerly and milder weather areas.
The estimated number remaining is also just a "guesstimate" based on an attrition model. Don't think that there is any easy way to find out how many and where they were sold or even how many are remaining. Even if you could access the data from FORD on where they were shipped, it really wouldn't give an accurate picture. For instance, my car was shipped to Pennsylvania and eventually sold in Virginia. I was the original owner. Some of these cars have been sold 2, 3, 4 times and have moved around considerably.
BOTTOMLINE is that the chart is just a rough gauge on where MMs might be and the approximate numbers by state. My point here was that NOT MANY Marauders went to Hawaii to begin with. And ..... only about half that number are still on the road.
You want more accurate figures? ..... have at it. :D

The rf suspension on the '03 does not look like it is centered like it should be.
Anyone here agree with me on this?

"Gary Travinski Jr. · Project Manager at GTA Engineering
owner of an 04 Marauder with approx 800HP right here... Buy one & put a supercharger on it... You will never regret it..."
And who might this be on here.... ?

As I recall and I may be off here. Steve Babcock and his crew tried to put a Lightning 5.4 in the engine bay and it didn't fit. Now perhaps a N/A 5.4 might make it but I never asked him that.:)
