The Ford 5 speed auto!!!
In response to someone asking about 4.33 gears I did some research on ways to get a first gear that equals General Motors 3.06 first gear.The Marauder is at a serious disadvantage with its 2.84 first gear.
Which offers 7.7% less torque multiplication than Chevy's.
Here are the gear ratios for the Ford 5 speed auto that is in the Explorer.
1st = 3.22 a 13.4% difference!!!!
2nd = 2.41 a 55.4% difference!!!!
3rd = 1.55
4th = 1.00
5th = .75
This 1st gear will make the 3.55 gear act like a 4.02 and a 4.10 act like a 4.64!
Check out the 2nd gear difference!!!!
3rd is the same as the Maraduer's 2nd!!!
This would do incredible things to acceleration, since 1st and 2nd gear are close together there would be no falling off the powerband.
I wonder why Ford didn't make this tranny standard in the Marauder?
I wonder how much it will cost to put one in? Since the aviator will have the same engine and transmission a ecm wouldn't be hard to get once production of the Aviator starts.
Is this to good to be true?
