View Full Version : C.A.M Itinerary 2012
Ok guys what places would you like to hit this year?
Berts is always in april. (normally after louisville)
Carlisle is the first weekend of june.
So maybe we could plan something big for June, (after Carlisle) July, August, and october.
I left out September because thats MV10!
This is a chance for all you guys to speak up and pick where you would like to go.
Here are a few ideas.
Gettysburg
Captain Dans crab shack
G&M restaurant
Brewery tour/lunch ABC's
Red Brick Station
Ocean City car Show in October (we havent done this one since 08)
Maybe a meet in some where in Delaware
Post up your thoughts and opinions please.

I would be down for Ocean City. I usually go down in May with the mustang club. October would be fun as well. We could all register and ride down the boardwalk in the mornings.

Note to all the New Hampshire Meet has been rescheduled til August. 16-19 Arrive on Thurs sometime, Fri do stuff, Sat car show, Sun leave for home. Ms. D will keep everyone posted in an upcoming thread.
We are not familiar with Delaware so if the meet sounds like fun we are game for a trip.
I have a pamphlet from Herr's potato chips and they do tours. If there is interest I will look into it.
We are also amiable to weekend trips if someone has a fun idea. Fri nite till Sun.
I would like to do the Battleship NJ but hesitant to take the MM into Camden. Maybe BDJ can bus us from his house.
Is S. Jersey within reach of C.A.M? Wheaton Village could be interesting as a weekend trip. There is a S. Jersey crowd that might be willing to set it up.

We will be at an Applebee's in Newark Delaware on Feb 18th meeting some friends. Will check it out for parking, etc. It is probably less than 1/2 mile off I-95, just south of Wilmington. Might be a good Delaware meeting place for a future get together.....
And, Paula/Eric, noted about New Hampshire. Maybe we could try to get to this one!!!!
Also, if anyone in mid-south jersey knows any places in Swedesboro, that could be a great mid-point for Phila, Delaware, Maryland, and all other Jersey peeps.
And, I thought I read that Captain Dans might be the Saturday after 4th of July?
Okay, just my 2 cents on all this...............

They have moved quite a bit of the pieces from outside to another location. They even moved the big German gun that was across the street on the rail car! I will check it out one day this week and let you all know. The small arms museum is still intact for now.

Abingdon is within 15-20 minutes from there, yes. There are also some places right in Aberdeen as well. Steel horse is a locally owned joint that serves up some delicious chow. There's also the olive tree or the green turtle, or mammi's...I do love my food!

The ordinance museum at Aberdeen Proving Ground lost most of their cool stuff with the BRAC loss of the ordinance school. Plus, being that it is a military installation anyone that doesn't have a CAC card will have to go through the visitors center to get in. Not a big deal but it could be a hassle with a lot of people.
During the summer they have a weekend cruise and car show at the Lowes in Abingdon. It would be neat to see a group of Marauders there some night.
Here is their site: http://www.lowescruise.com/
Red Brick Station or PF Changs is always nice as well.

Glen Burnie, MD
Cruise Saturday nights from 4 to 10 pm at the Marley Station Mall in Glen Burnie MD. The cruise is open for pre '77 vehicles only. Hosted by "Lost in the 50's" car club. There are event staff and a DJ. This is one of the larger cruises in MD. Parking can hold approx 472 cars! Call Dennis at (410)491-9969 for more information.
Captain Dan's Crabhouse in Eldersburg, MD was a great meet too. Maybe we could do that again on a Saturday in the July timeframe (14th or the 28th) ? Then plan to double it up with the Home Depot Cruise back up Liberty Road about 1.6 miles at 1326 Londontown Blvd, Sykesville, MD.
Eldersburg, MD
2nd & 4th Saturday of every month there is a large cruise at the Home Depot with many nice cars, up to 200+ on a nice night.

Yeah my uncle would love to have us all back again this year! in fact I saw him last weekend at my nephew's baptism and he even asked if we had the date picked out this year. And I know I would like to try to make Uncle Dan's Crab Shack an annual event. That's why i said that the Saturday after July 4th would be a great tradition
Unfortunately, I am going to be out of town Jul 7 - 14th..:( So we can push this back to 21 JUL or perhaps the week before 30 JUN.

Some other ideas (and thanks to Gordon for suggesting the Dulles Air and Space museum) because i remembered that every October is the Dulles Day Plane Pull event. It benefits the special olympics and there's a lot of other great activities: Car show, plane show, tons of exhibitors and then also we can form our own Mercury Marauder Forum team and pull the plane!
If anyone is interested in putting together a team, let me know and i can do the legwork and make it happen.
And if not, it's still a great event to come and show our cars off. We get to park on the tarmac. They close down a runway so they can host this event.

April 17 is the day the Space Shuttle Discovery arrives at the Smithsonian Air & Space Museum, Udvar-Hazy Annex at Dulles. Might be nice to visit the museum a week after, while it still is sitting on the 747 transporter. Over the next week or so, NASA will demate Discovery for the Museum, and mate "Enterprise" (the first non-powered shuttle currently in residence at Dulles) for onward transportation to another museum (I think its going to Boeing Field in Federal Way, WA). Either way, we've got a good chance of seeing a two-story, two-aircraft rig in person.

I saw the Enterprise being piggy back on a 747 as it flew over NYC back in the '70s, was an impressive site. It see it on the ground and up close (as close as can be) would be cool.

Traffic is horrible in this area all year round. Not sure that summer is any worse than any other time. I-95 southbound on Fridays is bad. Early Saturday is the same. On Sunday afternoon, the horribleness switches to northbound. Saturday afternoon is just terrible ;) ...... worse if there's an accident and there is no way to predict that.

MV10 - Marauderville X "The Tenth Anniversary" 12-16 September 2012 in South Haven, Michigan. South Haven Inlet & Lighthouse, Michigan Maritime Museum, Tall Ships, Gingerman Raceway (GMR), Kalamazoo Air Zoo, McIntosh Apple Orchard, and Roscoe's RoundUp. Start making your plans now. :D because you don't want to miss out on this one.
This is a chance for all you guys to speak up and pick where you would like to go.

Gettysburg -- Maibock Meet is already in Planning for 2:00 PM, 19 May 2012
Captain Dans crab shack (on the schedule for 21 July 2012)
G&M Crabcake restaurant (did this on 22 November back in 2008 timeframe and had a good turnout .... could be in October for some better weather. Last time was C-O-L-D as h3LL)
Brewery tour/lunch ABC's (N40GL is working on a Catoctin Distillery trip date TBD)
Red Brick Station (we have done this in March, September, and in December and moved it around a couple years)
Ocean City car Show in October (we havent done this one since 08)(there's a May and an October show -- October may fit better)
Maybe a meet in some where in Delaware
3rd Annual New Hampshire Classic Car Show at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS), 16-19 August 2012 (3 days). We'll enter the NHMS Car Show and take laps on the NASCAR oval & road course! Plus sight see & eat....and eat! Stay tuned for details from Mr. Man & Ms. Denmark.
Udvar-Hazy Air & Space Museum near Dulles Airport -- did this in late July 2005 and it was a big hit. Went to the Texas Roadhouse afterward.

We'll miss this meet. We'll both be up in Mansfield PA helping out with the Annual International Youth Hunter Education Challenge (YHEC) as we have done for the past 10+ years.
