Well, i finally got the pics of my job. The pioneer avh-p6500dvd dvd fits like a glove in the factory heater control area. The hardest part of the job was extending the heater control wires. Make sure you SOLDER. Crimps are the work of the devil. they dont work right!!!!! As far as the heater vacuum hoses, there is plenty of slack to reach the upper dash area, just snake them the right way and your'll be fine!! All in all, im VERY happy with the outcome. Granted i dont have steering wheel controls anymore, but since my right hand is usually on the shifter, i can hit the touchscreen radio from there with ease. And when it pops out of the dash, it misses the shifter by about 2mm. no joke, its that close, but it never touches. Its like its ment to go there. Enjoy the pics!! The last pic is a before pic!

Very nice!
Did you do this work yourself?
Is the upper slot (now above the new heater control location) where the CD/DVD's go?

Yes, i did it all myself. I've been installing for about 7 years now, i have my MECP certification for it too. Its a lot of fun!! The cd/dvd go right into the screen itself. on the lower section. its all built in, a very slick unit!!

Frank: So what goes in the top slot? What kind of bucks are you looking at?

The top slot has the pocket part of a marauder dash kit. and the bottom molding is abs plastic molder(heated up and bent) to give the contour of the dash. The heater control slides right it, kinda pressure fitted. I forgot to mention, you must shave off the mounting brackets for the heater controls in order for it to slide into the dash. The lower plastic is held in with hot glue.
The next step i want to get is a new dash bezel with no clock, and put the clock where the pocket is, and put my escort zr3 below the heater control. this way i can see those 2 items while the screen is up.
This job took me about 3 hours to do. A typical shop may charge about $150-$200 for this. I would probably charge about$125-$15-, since i know exactly what to do. If interested, i work at bestbuy in newington,CT so stop on by!!! LOL

What was the cost of the unit? I saw it as a package with the rear seat display. Also, what is the price of the Navigation module?
Hmmm...Newington, CT isn't too far from me.....

I bought the player from tweeters for $1300 with a 3 year warranty. They offered no payments/interest for 9 months too, which was great!! Ebay has them for $1000, but if you have any issues with it, your SOL. The nax is about $1400 from tweeters as well, and $800 on ebay. Id personally get it from tweeters, this way if there is ever an issue, you have a physical place to deal with, not the internet!

Mac and I run the same unit, It rocks... I got mine off Ebay. There are a couple places there that represent physical storefronts, which is where I bought mine from, that way I get the price AND get the warranty coverage.
