Hey folks, never too early to start planning.

Last year there were 10 Marauders at the show; it would be great if we could top a dozen this year.

A special shout-out to the Southern Marauders, would be great to have a couple of you come on up; maybe we could make a weekend of it (lotsa stuff to do around metro Charlotte: ZMax, NHOF, Bikini's Bar and Grille for dinner and drinks, etc.).

Tom and I could prolly coordinate lodging at an area hotel if there's interest, just let us know.

What Jim said.

It's a great time showing it off with the rest of the group. NBD if the car's not "showroom" we can all pitch in and help clean it up a bit, if need be.

Why not enter it? The reason for it is that my Marauder is presentable {especially after a wash} but its got paint issues in the front bumper cover {bug damage from the previous owner}, minor damage on the rear bumper cover {also from the previous owner} etc., unless there is a "battle scarred" section of show entries to qualify, my slow restoration schedule of the car to be up to showroom/show standards won't be in time for this show.[JMHO] Also, I'll be coming from Greensboro after working 10+ hrs. driving a big rig during 3rd. shift in Lexington,Charlotte,Monroe & Concord that I planned to check out the cars at the show & meet other MM owners for @ 2-3 hours, then head back home later for some :sleepy: :sleepy: :sleepy: I may be persuaded to stay longer if there is some 100 octane coffee close by. BTW, the engine in my Marauder could use some cleaning. :o

You have whats known in the business as a real enjoyable problem--which vehicle to bring?--the 5.0 or the new Blown MM--maybe trailer one--that would be cool!!
For anyone coming up to the show Friday Night ZMAX's Drag way has a test and tune. Russ

Now we're talking--didn't realize this---now thats a reason to trailer up for sure --bring all your cars--

BTW, we may have some Ranger folks joining us for the show. I joined the Ford Ranger Forum after getting my truck, and they've been looking for a chance to get together. I mentioned this, there's some interest, so there may be some Carolina Rangers accompanying the Carolina Marauders for the venue (durn near sounds like a paramilitary operation, don't it? ;)).

I plan on going to this, but have to take some things into consideration. I would like to bring my kids with me...I'll be missing out on seeing them when I go to Louisville and don't want to make it a 'habit'. However, if I bring them with me, I won't be able to 'hang out' as much.

I could save $$$ by staying at my Mom's place (Harrisburg...2 miles from Lowe's Speedway) and I could have her take care of the kids during the late night hours, but don't feel 100% comfortable with it. Plus, if my ex got wind of me doing this, I'm sure she'll try to use it against me somehow.

Also, if I bring my kids, I won't be getting down there until 7-8pm Friday night since they won't get out of school until 3pm and I'll have to hassle with the ex to boot....don't want to show up at my Mom's and be like, "we're here...I'm going out now and don't know when I'll be back."

The semester ends May 1st, so school for me won't be an issue, so I could come down Friday morning, head back here Saturday afternoon to spend time with my kids that night and the next day.

Decisions....

All hyped up about this event and bringing the 89 M7 as it is for sale now, but, not to be. I have to do a memorial service for my uncle. His kids said this was about the only date they could all do it. He died before Christmas in Florida and they had him cremated but waited to do the service. Lots of people coming from all over the east coast to this so I am not going to be there with you all. Quick update: Marauderman is still working on lodging for the out-of-towners that will be staying over either Friday or Saturday night.

Suggest we all rendezvous at the same place we did last year (tip of the hat to dakslim and his USMC improvisational skills ;))

Dennys
378 West Plaza Drive
Mooresville, NC 28117

What say we meet up for breakfast around 8:30 - 9:00 a.m. and then a group convoy over to the show? (It's just over a mile down the road from Dennys.)

Registration is from 8:00 to 11:00, but if I give the FOAC a count, they'll save us whatever number of spaces we need, so we don't need to arrive at the opening of registration.

Just my 2 cents....

Would it work out better if we had the breakfast rendezvous closer to the hotel?

Thoughts on having dinner Friday night at the Tilted Kilt?

The breakfast @ Denny's is close to the venue and on the same road a few blocks away--no real travel time after breakfast so to speak.........

The Tilt--where @?..

and here is the one you been waiting for:

No *****! You can probably see the place from your backyard, Tom! :P

Rex--you gonna convoy with those from the ATL? If so, lemme know what time y'all be hitting the road. I'm only an hour from your area...only fly in the ointment is I don't know how long I'll be in court that morning. I plan on going the 26/85 route so I can get some of that cheap gas in SC....it's only 10 more miles compared to the other two routes I can take.

The Denny's idea is ok with me, but we are in the land of WaHos....I'm just sayin'. As long as we pick a place that hasn't gone out of business, right?;)

Count me in as 1, Russ will prolly be there as well (that makes 2).

I'm gonna take off Friday and will be heading up that way early. Russ and I are planning to go to Z-Max late afternoon for T&T and should be to the Kilt around 7:00 or so; I think that's when Brad's planning to get there as well.

Of course, we could always make a day of it and show up there around noon... ;) ----->

I've already contacted the FOCA guys, here's the text from an e-mail I received from the BOC Director this morning:

"The weather forecast is good, so we anticipate a big turnout. You'll recall that last year we only had around 110 cars, so space was not an issue. We had 200 the year before, and we expect between 200 & 250 this year. It is going to be busy, and group parking will be tough. We have the whole top lot again, and we have secured space in the lower lot as well.

When you know for sure (sometime Saturday morning) how many cars are in your group, give me a call at 704-796-7380. I'll get the word to our parking crew. No guarantees of course, but as Buster says, we will do our best!"

We're looking at 6 to 8 cars, so my guess is they'll work on getting us set up with reserved spaces, but not sure they'll be shaded. (IIRC, it's pretty much a wide open parking lot).

I can bring my 12' x 12' canopy we can put up for shade, if need be.

We're still going to be directed to parking areas, so is the plan to try and get there and secure shaded parking, or make sure we get a group parking spot?

Chances of the former are pretty slim, IIRC, there's like one area right next to the registration tents that is along a tree line.

The latter's pretty well set already, I've told Buster we need 6 to 8 spots in a group.

Ya'lls call. I'm planning to bring my canopy, so we'll have shade no matter where we park.

They've asked us to try and show up as a group, if you'd prefer that we all show up early, I guess that's what we'll do.

With that said, what's the new game plan as far as rendezvous location and time?

I say we arrive as a group...better to be hot & miserable and together vs being hot & miserable and some here, some there. I don't remember there being any trees except where the registration tents were. I'll be wearing a halter-top and mini-skirt w/thong, so I'll be dressed for the weather. ;)

Maybe you can buy a couple trees from a nearby nursery and put 'em next to your car, slickster...:P

Skipping a breakfast meeting to get there early is no prob with me...I usually don't eat breakfast, just drink 5 or 6 cups of coffee in the morning. Just let me know what time I need to be at the hotel that morning so I don't miss the convoy up 77.

OK--I like the idea of convoying overc from the Hotel-- to 77 and then up to Dennies----I think we can do that and eat and then go as a group --heck --what time does the place open for cars to pull into the show anyway---?? we should be able to do all that and still enter as a group---which is best as said^^^^^

What were those times again????--What y'll think?

^^^^^ That's my recollection, too, and the chances of us getting parking under them is prolly gonna be pretty slim. (Don't forget, the FOAC folks will be arriving before ANY of us, and my guess is under the trees is where they'll park).

Anyway, what's the plan? If we're not going to meet at Denny's at 8:30, where and when? Russ and I will be driving up from his place, so we've got to put an hour+ lead time into whatever you guys decide.

Well registration opens at 8 so we can meet at the dennies down the road at 7 and get at the show before 8 (Im sure there well be cars already lined up) or just take our time and roll in around 9

Not sure, I know there are a couple of fast food places nearby (Mickey D's, etc). We can meet up there or wherever, but suggest we plan on a marshalling spot once we get to Mooresville in the event the convoy gets split up enroute from the hotel (which is probable).

I'm all for rolling in around 9:00. Suggest we all shoot for arriving at Denny's around 8:00, we can grab a quick breakfast, get the cars lined up and head out between 8:45 and 9:00. I'm thinking if we get to Mooresville Ford much before 9:00, it'll be one of those "hurry up an wait" deals as it'll prolly take them at least a half-hour or so for them to get everything organized and people in place to direct traffic, spot and park cars, etc.

They are expecting us and will put us all together if we roll in at the same time, so that should be our primary focus (getting everyone together and then arriving at the BOC as a group).

I'll be leaving Georgia about 1pm on Friday and I figure about a 4 hour drive to the Hotel. Shall we say meet at the Hotel about 7p and we can head to bikini paradise across the street?

As for Saturday morning, just tell me when and where to meet and I'll be there.

Can't wait fellas for another Marauder get together

Bikini's will be Saturday night, (post BOC).

We'd planned to do TK on Friday night (pre-BOC), as it is enroute for you on the way up to the hotel. If we wanna do this, what say we plan on meeting up at the Kilt around 6:00 to 6:30-ish? (if anyone shows up early they'll prolly be able to find something to keep them occupied...;)).

Another alternative for Friday evening is T n' T at ZMax:

Gates open at 5:00 p.m.

I'm flexible, just looking forward to hanging out with the gang, up to youse guys what we wanna do on Friday evening.

Lets all meet at the Kilt at 6PM'ish on Friday ---then take it from there--probably have Sat. at Denneys at 7Am so we can not rush ---and then all convoy down the block to the show...Fri nite we can decide time from Hotel for those there convoying over to Denny's as to when and how many---

Same here...will show it, not have it judged. Rex, Russ, and Jim alone will beat me out of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd...my car would prolly finish 5th in a 3-car show anyway...

I'll have mine judged, I may not win, but I know there's no chance of a trophy if I don't. And for a former daily driver, I'd say mine looks damn fine

Admire your gusto...just don't think mine is ready for the 'big show' just yet. I guess my previous post makes it sound like I don't want to play unless I win something...that's not the case. When I get a chance to get my s*** together and really spend some time on her, then I'll be ready. I'm hoping this summer I'll be able to get serious about it. In retrospect, as long as I'm hanging out with any of the MM crew, that makes me a 'winner' already...

THAT's why I enjoy going to shows. I have no aspirations of getting a trophy, don't have mine detailed well enough, but it'll be clean and shiny enough to show off, and that's good enough for me.
