Vehicle, that is! ;)

Have been looking for a DD so that I can transition the Bluesmobile to weekend/leisure driving status and wanted to get me another pick up ever since trading in my '01 Ranger on Terry's Escape. Have been going back and forth with Momma on this and finally found a vehicle we both like and could agree upon.

Fairway Ford here in Greenville had a few new 2011 Ranger Super Cabs left over, and they had a nicely equipped one (Class III towing package, Sirius/XM, 4 door, tinted glass, sliding rear window, cruise control, bed liner, appearance package, upgraded interior) in my favorite color. Between X Plan pricing, big-time Ford incentives, and some wheeling and dealing with the dealer, I got a heck of a deal on it.

So, I'm stayin' Ford Oval, and stayin' Blue, FTW!

Well if Momma's happy; well, let's just say life is much less stressful... ;)

She's the one that picked it out, wasn't too hard for me to agree with her on this one... :cool4:

Heh-heh. Usually they give you steeper gears and a trans cooler with a "towing package" :flamer: Or is that how they justify the 1800 option? :D

Nice one Rex! Rangers are great honest little trucks that will do the job with no fuss and last for years with decent care. Naturally Ford is killing them off. Looks nice too.

Yeah, similar situation to the Panther platform; the Ranger's been around for a bazillion years, solid, dependable, but cost to upgrade the platform to meet federal requirements is cost prohibitive, so it's being discontinued. :shake:

I had a '96 and an '01 Ranger, both of them were excellent vehicles, and I'm anticipating the same for this one.

Thanks for the complement. Fairway had a couple silvers, and a metallic gray along with this one all optioned the same, but as I'm a "blue kinda guy"; well... ;)

I thought that it did, but after looking at the window sticker again, I guess not; 3.55 regular axle.

If you can find one, now's a great time to buy. Ford has some big-time incentives they're offering on leftover Rangers; you could prolly snag yourself a real deal.

Nothing fancy about the Ranger, same basic package that's been offered since the '80s. Some refinements and ungrading over the years (I've noticed the new one is much quieter than my '01, and it's got a smoother ride), but when it comes down to it, not many bells and whistles, just a good, solid, dependable small pick up. Kinda like the Panther platform, really hate to see Ford drop it from their production line up, but time marches on... :shake:

I hear ya! I got rid of my previous Ranger back in '06, and have regretted it frequently, glad to have another one.

Well give us a review now that you had a couple few days. How's the gas milage? The git up and go? Hauled anything in it yet? Details, man!

Mileage with the 4.0 V6 and 3.55 gears is what I expected, low 20's. Already got the mod bug and am checking into tunes (signed up on the Ford Ranger board, they got gearheads over there, too! :D)

Other than hauling my azz back and forth to work every day, I have done a little hauling with it; picked up some wood for a(nother...) remodeling project I'm starting at the house. Also, Momma got a couple new end tables for our living room last weekend, so I got to pick up and transport those as well.

I really like the truck. Suspension and ride is better than my '01, and it's really quiet for a truck, much more so than my previous two Rangers. Very pleased with it so far. If it wasn't for the Annual Blues Brothers Nationals at Louisville, I'd give some strong thought to bringing the truck rather than the 'Rauder (could definitely haul a bigger cooler with it.)
