Wondering if anyone works a 12 hour 2-2-3 schedule? Which are generally for 7 day a week/24 hour a day facilities. It ends up being working the weekend twice a month and a three day weekend twice a month. Any feedback from those that have or do this? Considering a position with this kind of schedule. You work only 180 days a year vs close to 250 days for a 5 day a week position, but they are 12 hour shifts. 2 on, 2 off, 3on, then 2 off, 2 on, 3 off then the cycle starts again.
Thanks

Yes, i work in a 24hr plant. my week is 1-3-3. I like the days off! but 12hr shift is long, when i work 6 out of seven. As with any job payday is the best day.

I did for a few years. I loved it. Really easy to plan things and you always knew when you were working. I now work 10 hours days on a 4-3 schedule.

My staff nurses works 12 hr. shifts. They have some flexibility as it is a relatively small number of staff. They get together and figure out the schedule. They work 7 days out of 14. Usually 3 one week and 4 the next. They love it.

That's a fairly common schedule in a lot of process industries that work 24/7; IMO, not too bad once you get used to it. As a couple other posters noted, gives you lots of planning flexibility.
During the BP oil spill last year I was working 14-12's with 4 days off at the end of each rotation; THAT got to be some long hours.

I work 10 days time in 9 days so that I have alternating Mondays off. I like that schedule.

I have 168 hours to go around for 4 people.....kind of sucks for the night shift person...they work 5 days one week then 6 the next and it alternates between the 3rd and 4th shift person....but the extra 8 is always on the night shift.
I used to schedule 3 1/2 on and 3 1/2 off.....so the we had three 12's and one 4. So once a month the supervisor (me) would get half a day on Thursday and Friday, Saturday and Sunday off, and off every weekend. The other staff had their 3 1/2 days off during the week once a month....
The bad part was you worked 9 days straight before you got your 3 1/2 off, except the supervisor.
I now roll with 8 hour shifts due to how busy it is....and when some one is on vacation we do 8 straights.....meaning 8 hour shifts for 7 days including the supervisor, then when that person comes back from vacation, you next day off is your regularly scheduled day off. How ever having 16 hours of overtime in one week is pretty nice since I dont usually get overtime.

The wife and I work weekends only, two 12 hr. shifts, (paid for 40hrs.), the bad is that I work 11pm Fri. night, to 11am Sat., and 11pm Sat. to 11am Sun., and she works 11am Sat. to 11pm Sat., and 11am Sun. to 11pm Sun., but that's 5 days off every week, so we work about 100 days a year. I can also go in off shift most anytime and get extra money.

We run 24/7 . Manufacturing plant. My guys have been working this schedule for about 15 years. Two day shifts and two night shifts. It works to be with your family. We also work any hoilidays that fall during that time. We only shut donw five days in the summer and five days during winter . We try to include 4 of july and christmas in that shut down time. Any other questions let me know.
