View Full Version : My Latest: '57 Chevy Pick Up Truck Project

Our paint, body, and fab guy, Derrick Smith,was working on this truck for one of his customers. The customer told Derrick that he lost interest in the truck and wanted to head in another direction.

The opportunity to own a pick up with some of the nicest steel I have seen was right there in front of me. A lot of the prep work had been done too.

So here is what I took over:

The truck will get a Camaro front clip and all the suspension stuff that comes with it (disc brakes!!!) and most likely a SBC for power.


The idea is to build something with a stance like this:

Excellent project!!! Alwasy loved the resto-modded, hot rodded 55, 56, 57 shoebox and pick ups...lowered, wheels all tucked up underneath etc.. Look forwad to seeing more as she comes along

Ive have always wanted a street rod truck like that. Growing up my old man had a few 54 Ford F-100's. Id trade just about any ride Ive ever had for a truck like that.

this is a picture of my buddy Oliver's 53 Chevy and his 2000 Toyota Tacoma (gold) at SEMA last year. Cant wait to see what you do with it Marty

Martyo Very nice I would love one also. Not partial to white cars but the white truck looked great.

Nice project Marty, have you tought of LS swaping it instead? We have done a couple of LS swaps into older vehicles, clean wiring harness with a/c and 20mpg.

The Studebaker was killer. The dash had painted wood grain that looked real!!!
