What i did was barrowed a friend trap (or u can just make one). After catching it, i put the whole contraption in my trunk and drove about 15 miles away and let it go in the wood... never found his way back. Howvevr, if your issue is with multiple cats then im not sure as i just had one big orange dusty dirty shedding cat that loooved to sleep all over my car.

I'm going to object to any more talk about torturing, maiming or killing domestic cats. It is not humane. My cat Olivia was shot through the eye with a pellet gun by my elderly neighbor. She had wandered over to his yard prolly just to hang out with him. She loved people, but was rarely let out of the house. I never forgave myself, or him. I found her before she bled to death. There has to be another solution to the problem. Having them die a slow death by drinking anti-freeze is horrific and I'm sorry to know that you would be capable of that, Joe.

I read somewhere to put some moth balls in the garden, or where ever the cats or dogs are leaving their crap. The mothball smell is supposed to repel them, don't think they will eat the moth balls. But the best idea is to trap and let loose miles away

I'll have to agree, a live trap is the best thing, got 10 cats, get 2 or 3 traps, it'll take you a week to get rid of all of them. There is obviously a food or shelter source that is keeping/drawing them there, remove that, and they will move on. Or... a live trap.

Look at it like this, would you want someone, shooting/torturing/hurting a pet of yours. While they may be wild, they are domestic, a live trap is your best solution.

It is a problem. The real issue is often times people are such irresponsible pet owners. They don't spay or neuter and worse, let their cats out to fend for themselves. A couple of our neighbors have "outdoor" cats that are a real nuisance. Eric's car cover has been shredded, and their litter box is our garden.:( Even so, I know it isn't fair to blame them... they're nice cats just doing what cats do. I blame their owners and try to enlighten them. We have an 18 year old named Maude. She is spayed and lives indoors... never goes out. She's happy and safe, and doesn't bother anyone. I do understand your frustration.

I think you need to trap or shoot your neighbor. To shoot a cat or dog in the eye deserves the same thing happen to them. I have had cats and dogs, turtles, grand children and children, I would never harm them.
People piss me off when they harm animals. They don't think that it may be some childs pet.

There, fixed it for you.

I'm with you Ms. D :censor: The thought that some folks in this group would resort to harming/shooting animals is highly disturbing. It's one thing when it is hunting for food, but it's something totally different when it is because something like cats/dogs who were left to fend for themselves and have no choice because their owners do not care anymore.

Alot of animal control places, or rescue organizations may be able to refer you to a rescue that takes in "barn cats." Alot of barn/farm owners would like to get cats to live on their property and keep all the mice/vermin away... maybe there is a rescue organiztion in your area that would help you to trap them and relocate them to someone else's property?

I didn't say I have done it nor have I. But when people let their cats roam, and then the roaming cats create wild cats bothering people's dogs, sitting on my fence while my two dogs go crazy, seeing cat prints on my car (which are in my garage) because people can't take care of a little cat. Then that's a problem and It's game on then. Cats are a pet and should be kept at home.

Then people wonder why there are so many stray dogs and cats running around.

Fortunately, I have not had to resort to drastic measures. I've pelted a few cats with snowballs and they have not returned yet.

Dave, have you tried peeing all over everything to let them know it's yours? :D

Honestly, try this before killing them: High pressure water hose or a big super soaker. Maybe even fill it with your pee. :banana2:
Airsoft gun on full auto???

I was just thinking about it. If you get rid of the cats, you may end up with a rodent problem. Get rid of any food sources and they will go.

Agreed. We found a cat outside out front door last winter. We brought him in and fed him, got him neutered and de-clawed and let an elderly couple take him a couple months later. They're EVRYWHERE here. I see at least 2-3 a day going in and out of the sewers here.

Leak a story to the government that the cats have obtained yellow cake uranium. 10 years from now, your cat problem won't be any better but you will have kept Americans employed and turns millionaires into billionaires when they get no bid contracts to rebuild everything on your farm 57 times.

Dave, we had this problem in my neighborhood. One of the neighbors was feeding all the feral cats in the area. We had her trap them when they can to feed and the local anilam shelter spayed and neutered them. That's one way to eliminate the problem without running afoul of the animal rights people.
