Here is my situation. A while back my local ford dealership towed my car in to look at the gears that they had fd up after they put them in a year and a half ago. After the car got back to me (they refused to fix the gears for free) it wouldn't start. I checked the fuses and they looked o.k. Next I checked the starter by putting a screw driver across the terminals and it sparked and spun when the ignition switch was turned, but the engine didn't start. I then looked at all the connections under the dashboard and steering column to see if they had unplugged something but I didn't find anything unplugged. The car started and ran fine before I took it to them but it didn't after they brought it back. Those :censor:'s did something to it! What do you think could be the problem?

So it does nothing when you turn the key? Try doing it in neutral with your foot on the brake.

Try another key. What is your PATS light on the dash doing?

When you turn key forward, do you hear the fuel pump priming the line?

I hear something turn on in the engine bay. It sounds like some sort of motor, I guess that is the fuel pump. The PATS light does flash constantly.

You have a PATS issue. Do you have another key to try?

Also, because mine left me stranded a couple years ago, so I have a little experience here... Jumping the starter will not help you as the fuel is also cut off.

I ran with just one key for a year before just having Zack disable my PATS in the tune.

I guess it was the PATS after all. I tried the factory key, which I had tried before and it fired right up. There is a white smoke coming from the exhaust and when I lifted the hood the engine shut off. I closed the hood and started the car again. What do you think the white smoke is from?

White smoke = good. Wouldn't worry about it.

white smoke is condensate (water) - if blue it's oil (seals are leaking)

Thanks everyone and you to justbob. However, the last time I started the engine and opened the hood the engine stumbled a little, regained its idle then shutoff. What is the problem now? The white smoke did go away after a minute or so.

Never mind about the engine shutting off. I figured it out. The hose from the air intake to the valve cover had come off. I put it back on and the car ran fine. Thanks guys for the help!
