I'm spoiled...at work there are lots of nesting bald eagles. Every morning I see several going out to hunt. Now and then there's a deer that's been killed and they will feed on it. It's funny to see the vultures wait their turn. Eagles are big birds and truly beautiful to watch. Thanks for the link.

Same here. Mason Neck National Wildlife Refuge is only about 3 miles from my house via the Occoquan River. Mason Neck is one of the top 10 locations in the USA for eagle watching. It was founded in 1965 after 2 nests were discovered. The site is now permanent home to 7 nesting pairs of eagles and it is not unusual for 50-60 eagles to be present during the wintering season. The state park also hosts the largest Great Blue Heron grouping in the mid-Atlantic with some 1,400 nests.

It is not unusual to spot eagles soaring high above the community and along the river/Occoquan Reservoir just enjoying their lazy circling or in search of prey or fish. Some of them have some pretty wide wingspans.

Yes, their wings are quite large! Seeing them eating a deer and dwarfing the buzzards is cool.

Mr. Man and I have been to the Decorah area which is right along the Mississippi and have seen the Bald Eagles soaring out over the river. I will definitely tune in. Thanks for the link!

We have a lot of Eagles here in Beaufort but to see them in their nest is quite amazing!!

Attached are a few photos I have taken right here at my house!!

The nest he landed on is on an Osprey pole I put up back in the mid-90's!! When the Ospreys leave the Eagles check it out but normally they leave the Ospreys alone while they are nesting!!

Every State in the Union has nesting pairs of Bald Eagles. Heard recently that the Feds have given some American Indian tribe permission to hunt Bald Eagles. I didn't hear why the NA's want to hunt the birds.
