So after being pulled over about 4 times and being ticketed once its time for the headlight paint to come off. The paint looks extra dark but I have HID's so its no problem with the lights shining thru and being visible but im tired of getting pulled over. I tried paint thinner but it did nothing. Anybody know something that will take it off without damaging the headlight itself?

If paint thinner didn't work, maybe try some really fine sand paper. If not you'll need to get new headlight assemblies.

If thinner doesn't work (and it shouldn't) nor should it be used on plastic parts. Replacement assemblies are probably your best bet. You could try 1000 grit sandpaper, you would need to polish the lens after, not sure how well it would work out.
I would buy new assemblies and sell those on the board, I am sure someone will want/need them.

New headlights... When I bought my 99 crown vic pi a few years ago, it had blacked out headlights like yours. I tried thinner and it destroyed the plastic lenses. ended up buying some aftermarket headlights on ebay pretty cheap and they looked good.
On a side note, I have aftermarket headlights on my MM now and they look great, the brand is "DEPO". I think i payed 70$ each on ebay.

New headlights. So this way you can swap them out when you want the blacked out look.

I think you should trade for a set of factory orignals. With all the patina 9 year old factory orignals should have. And today's your lucky day, I happen to have just such a set. But you'ld have to pay the shipping.:D

Nnnnnnnnooooooo sand paper no replace go to parts store and get some adhesive remover from turtle wax it works great and it will take some work had a buddy of mine have a similar issue with his taillights and we used that to get it off almost like new when finished

Take them somewhere that buffs headlights. They'll do a step up from like 600, 800, 1000, 1200. 1500, buff, polish. They might charge a little more for dealing with the paint. We did them all the time when I worked at an auto body shop. Paint thinner won't work because it's almost certainly clear coated. Same concept as your paint not coming off when you drip fuel below the filler.
