My Plea:

Alright guys. I remember the days when we'd all pitch in and paypal some funds for someone who blew their motor, etc. Lets help this young man get his beloved MM back on the road.>>>

"Wuz up guys!!! I have a few questions and I would like my MM.net Members to give me there feed back......I'm a young male that is working hard to make ends meet. I have a 2003 MM black with flint insides!! Im in LOVE with her!! She was stolen from my house and I found nothing but the back window on the floor in the morning. The police found it and I have been stuggling to get her back on the road ever since.......The steering column is busted they stole both head lights they took the battery, busted the back driver side window and took the rims and tires (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=78486#)!!!! " http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=78486

The condition of the car has been verified by another member who's been here a while (D Rock).

Here's my viewpoint. Even 10 bucks from a lot of members adds up fast. You spend more on that on coffee a week.

Lets prove that we are a community of Marauder lovers not just wise-asses and jokers. Lets pull together and help each this fine hardworking young man out.

Takers?

EDIT UPDATE: Paypal address: mrigtjd@gmail.com

(If you send something, send it as a "GIFT" and there will be no fees pulled out of it.)

Can I make one suggestion in the effort of putting a dark chapter behind us? Maybe rephrase the title of the thread and remove the last few words

Mr. Hall

Just cause I like to see restorations in progress as much as the final outcome ... could you post a few pictures as you make the improvements to the Marauder? It would also help us to see if there is other damage. For example, once the wheels are on it, will you discover undercarriage damage from being dragged on the ground like that or just sitting on big rock?

Mr Knine,

Thanks for starting this thread and initiating the process to raise money for repairs.

Thanks!

I firmly believe what comes around goes around, you probably got a gold star on the big board of life for doing this.
I believe in doing at least one random act of kindness a day. Mostly the target doesn't see it coming (hold open a door, anonymous donation, buy 5 candy bars from some kid selling them though I'd never eat them - i just give them away. Or maybe stop and help someone sitting with their flashers on- like today). I believe that true leaders do the right thing when no-one is looking.

Credit must be given where credit is due though, I'm only one person, the true thanks goes to all the wonderful people who step up and donate to a person who had his baby vandalized and most of us haven't even met the person, who--judging by all the appreciative comments, is a fine young man and represents our community very well.

YOU guys are the true hero's. :grouphug:

Keep the kindness rolling and "pay it forward". :bows:

P.S., Casey, I've had a gold star for over 10 years now. ;)

8 plugs don't all fail at the same time. In fact, it's rare that a plug "fails" at all. The car just doesn't run as well as it could if they are worn. You just needed a new starter to get her running.

Okay Daniel, just sent you another $50 so get that back window put in asap.

Here is some free advice -go get your car out of PEP Boys and bring it home. Go over to the local Ford Dealer in your area around 3:30ish-5:00PM. When the mechanics are getting off work/leaving go talk to a couple of them and see if anyone does any work on the side.

Explain to them how your car got stolen and you are really tight on cash. Tell them how these local shops dont know anything about Marauders and see what they say.

If they cant help you out maybe they can refer you to someplace. These guys know who does good work in the area and who doesnt.

I have a Ford Mechanic that handles all my rearend work on my car and it is always perfect because the guy does it everyday. If this doesnt turn up any leads for you then go find a shop that handles and tunes mustangs. Usually these shops know what is going on.

I am very choosy on who works on my car. I know you have a tight budget but Pep Boys is not the way I would go. Just my .02-good luck.

Ask them to verify that the VSS signal wire that goes thru the brake light switch is not grounded out. This sounds like a "forgot to hook up something" issue from replacing the column.

Ask them to verify that the VSS signal wire that goes thru the brake light switch is not grounded out. This sounds like a "forgot to hook up something" issue from replacing the column.

This is what Im hoping for, I'll be sure to ask them that.

Has anyone ever had to replace a LCM??? I have been told by the Ford dealership that this could be a reason why my headlights will not come on. yes this is a new issue I have just found out about. Is it really a do it your self type of job??

Hey Guys -is anyone in Florida near this kid to help steer him to a decent mechanic or shop? Someone has to be able to help him out......sounds like he really needs it.
Maybe someone knows someone who'd be looking to help the kid out and build their reputation a little in the process......just sayin'.

I don't even know where this thing is to take it out and send it to someone to get it fixed. Underneath the steering column to the right. Almost right above where your right foot would be.

I used these instructions from fastblackmerc and had no problems:

How to remove the LCM from a Marauder, Crown Vic or Grand Marquis.

The LCM is about the size of a brick and is located just to the right of the steering column, in front of the gas pedal.

There are 3 electrical connectors on the LCM.

Remove the bottom two connectors by depressing the tabs and pulling on the connectors.

Remove the 2 mounting screws with a 7mm nut driver or socket.

Push the LCM towards the gas pedal while rotating it up towards the roof. Once it’s free of the bracket, pull the back of the LCM down towards the floor.

You should now be able to release the last electrical connector.

Just reverse the steps for re-installation.

Does the LCM issue happen on every car eventually, or just certain ones? I have not had this issue, and don't want to have it happen at an inopportune time.

it WILL happen sooner or later. It starts by one headlight randomly going out, hit the LCM box and it will pop back on. You can get by doing this for a number of months until it quits all together.

Fastblackmerc has the permanent fix. I'm not having issues now, but I'm still having him swap it outwhen I'm in North carolina in a few weeks. He does it through the mail too

Hey, Guys I made it down there to look at the car and Im really pissed :mad2::mad2::mad2: at these people at Pep Boys!!!! My Air Bag light stays on, My ABS light stays on and my traction control will not turn on!!!! and they can't tell me why these lights are on!!!

Air bag light is on them, the ABS and traction control may be a tire size issue. What size tires do you have on the front and the rear?

Thats your issue, the rear tires need to be larger than the fronts

Just turn it off everythime you drive it until you can get the right size's in the back or a 4% separation.

I thought that might be the problem, but when I first got the car I had this sane issue and I could normally just turn it off when I got in the car but now when I press the button nothing happens the light doesn't go off so its like stuck with no traction control.

Someone else might need to chime in on the exacts on how to do this but, I think you can bypass it all together.

Wow -doesnt look like the same car! Way to go Daniel -glad you are getting her fixed up.

Now go and look at putting a cut-out switch in the car. This switch (I ran mine off the lighter-dont let people smoke in my car :)) will effectively cut power off from the battery when thrown so even if they break the column on your car cant start because of no power.

You can mount/hide the switch anywhere in the car interior and it is a cheap way to burglar proof your car if you dont have the money for an alarm. If they want your car they will get it but this keeps the casual thief from grabbing it. Not hard to wire but ask the mechanic guys at Ford if they can do it for you. Should be alot less then an alarm system.

Very good job on the car -way to go Daniel :)

That sounds like a great idea, but how did it work?? I don't let people smoke in my car either so that would work great!!

I used the lighter -push it in and it effectively grounds the system and stops the power from going to the starter. You can easily use a single pole switch and mount it anywhere in the car and it can be wired to do the same thing. I switched mine to a switch because I use the lighter plug for my other electronics. Not that hard to do and the wire can be hidden within the wire loom making it difficult to find if you dont know where it is at or what you are looking for.

That sounds like a plan!! unless until I can get an alarm.

Hey wuz up, Well lets see... Since I got her running thanks to you all I have installed a alarm, full coverage, HID's and a Double din touch screen!! Im working on finding (2) 245/55 18 this weekend so I can put them on. My Traction control light and abs still hasn't gone off but I'm thinking that's because I dont have the right size tries on the rear. But other then that Im loving having her back. Thank you,

My Traction control light and abs still hasn't gone off but I'm thinking that's because I dont have the right size tries on the rear. Having all 4 tires the same size won't trigger the ABS light. You need to find someone with a code reader that will read the ABS module and see what DTC is set.
