View Full Version : Interest in carbon fiber pieces?

A good friend of mine makes carbon fiber (Real cf) parts. G3 Composites LLC.
We're both enthusiasts as well of course & all supplies are sourced from the USA & all the work is done in the USA as well. He is based in FL. [:)]

I'm posting to see what parts (Interior and/or exterior) people may want made in carbon fiber.

If I get enough interest/paying customers I'd be happy to become a vendor on the forum.

I just sent him several pieces from my Corvette. Can't wait to get them back.

Here are some photos of some of his work:

Those are all decorative. Anything structural? Hoods? Trunks? Be nice to loose some weight.

Feel free to ignore me. After my current projects I need to cool it for a while. I'll be prowling again in summer.

How about a Marauder hood and trunk and wing?

+1

Especially an OEM replica wing, but about 2 inches longer at the back. Might just have to shell out the bucks now for that.

Got the idea from the greenlight models. They made their spoilers to big on the models, but it looks good.

Radiator cover would prolly be the biggest hit around here. Most of us go to car shows etc and that would really be sporty.

Also, the fuse box cover and maybe a cover to hide the battery. My.02

I like the intake tube and rad cover. In the past the older ones that were made warped due to heat IIRC. Hope these won't do the same.

Sorry for the stupid question.

So would the benefit of carbon fiber hood and trunk be it can look stock but be lighter and stronger than OEM?

Or is carbon fiber just something flashy for show like intake tubes and door sills?

IMO lighter while still as strong. I'd paint it. Want to look stock. But the price can't be too high or it's not worth it. Cheaper to pick up more power once in the thousands range.

I'd say more MMs can get 35-50hp at about $1300-2300 depending on details, so that's a competitive price for a hood and trunk. figure that's 100lbs easy.

Now for someone at 600+hp on a blown aluminator, more could be a good deal compared to start from scratch engine swap.

Yea, big parts like hoods & trunk lids are not cheap to do or buy. He'd need a few committed buyers before taking that on. :)

So if we have at least 5 people here ready to drop money on these items let's get it rolling.

Lighter panels also means better gas mileage when you don't put your foot into the pedal, no?

Would lighter cf hoods and trunks be OEM quality look and fitment or is there a potential for it to fit and look like the regular aftermarket garbage? Would hate to drop some serious coin for something that doesn't fit right or looks aftermarket.

Radiator cover is a must do. I'll be a buyer for one of those. Maybe Carbon fiber bumper inserts as well. The hood would be a bit too ricer and the cost would be likely north of $1500.

Heres the intake tube that metco made.
http://i32.photobucket.com/albums/d12/blackened300a/Engine/install.jpg

I can take some measurements for you if you wanna duplicate it. I will not be removing it off my car and sending it out for R&R. These are far too rare and valuable to even consider that.

Ok so if it's something costly like a hood etc you can do that for one person. If it's a rad cover or something small etc you would have to doit in bulk order? So far I'm sure we got 30 guys ready for a rad cover how much for that? Or is it just a single transaction

Smaller items like the rad cover for example, can be done as a 1 off.

CF Throttle cable cover

CF Air Filter Heat Sheild similar to the PHP stainless steel product that Paul has in his CF intake tube/engine photo.

BTW: Those various CF pieces look awesome!
