Hey guys....
Ive been living beside the same neighbor my whole life and shes always had the noisiest dogs. But now I'm just realizing it, because when i come home after a long day at work i just want to take a little nap. Just when im about to fall asleep.......... BARK YAP YAP YAP.
And this isnt even a cool bark either. Its one of those high pitched yelps.
Its sooooo annoying because its right beside my window.
I need some advice to shut these dogs up and who else hear lives beside noisy stupid little dogs?
Rat poison in bologna? Garden hoses dont work, just makes them louder. :D
(Im not going to kill them if anybody takes offense to that question:D)

I've got four Dachshunds.
They may be kin to your neighbor's dogs... :o Mine are barkers as well, I try to keep them quiet, but during the day it's tough. They sleep inside at night, so the barking isn't an issue then.
Have you tried speaking to the neighbor? Maybe suggest putting them inside for a while in the late afternoon, or maybe walking them to give you a little quiet time?

Call your local Animal Control and report them.
Just becuase they are on private property doesnt mean anything.
I would also start taking video of them barking so you can say
"they bark from 5:45 to 10:00 every day"
I had a GF that did this with her neighbors. It go so bad that Animal Control gave the owners the choice of leaving the dog indoors, finding it a new home, or taking it to a vet and having its voice box removed. They chose option 3.

Shes a old lady who doesn't exercise the dogs. So she just keeps them outside the majority of the day and they bark. Sometimes they get out too. And she expects me to stop washing my car to get them, umm hello lady, black car, waterspots! lol
But sometimes i just go outside and kinda talk to myself and say WHAT IS ALL THE BARKING and then she tries to quiet them down. I wouldnt mine if they were at least cool dogs. Wiener dogs rock! There so oddly shaped! :D But i'll try to talk to her first.

I'd talk to her first. If that doesn't work you need to call your local animal control.

Have a neighbor similar to yours. Except he's got a pitbull, german shepherd and some kind of wolf...
Talked with him about it before and problem solved.
I would give the old lady a break and catch her dogs for her.
Think about it: "You catch more flies with honey then you do with vinegar."
Best advise for any kind of neighbor.

I've got 4 neighbors with 11 dogs surrounding me.
One neighbor in particular has 7 little yappers that bark when the breeze blows.
I tried talking with them, but they did nothing to control/train the dogs....:mad2:
I've reported them to the animal control board so many times that they finally got hauled into court and fined.
That worked for about 2 months, now they are back to barking all the time.
I'm going to call animal control and get them back in court and get them fined again.
Eventually they will get as tired of paying fines as I am of their inconsiderate lack of action and their barking dogs.
This time I will let the court know that they have 7 dogs!!
(By County regs, you are only allowed a maximum of 4 dogs....:D)
Bye Bye to 3 doggies!....
As others have said:
Try talking to her.
Report her to the animal control board.

Had a dog like that behind us once. It never did shut up. My brother has a rot lab mix that he brought over, it walked up to the fence and pissed on that dogs head. Funny stuff there, will never forget it. :0)
Neighbor has two yappers. I just let Daisy out when they start up, problem solved. They run inside or to the far end of thier yard. Either way, it shuts them the **** up.

There are many smart people here..... To you I will say "find another way" to fix the situation.... Animal control is not going to solve your problems for you, they will change the problem you have...... Before you call animal control, learn what happens to those animals that they catch in your specific community......... Some Animal Control agencies are nothing but torture chambers for animals. Especially if they cannot be reclaimed due to the financial hardships the penalties and fines might cause....
Instead of having noisy dogs, you will have po'd neighbors who may take some form of revenge........
Guys, we are living in different times all accross this country. For some folks, all they have is the unconditional love of their pets... Do you want to be the person responsible for upsetting that fragile balance for them???
My suggestion is go and walk in your neighbors shoes ( like the original poster did with the elderly lady) have some compassion for their situation rather than being self absorbed about your own...........
Compromise is a good thing in cases like these. Everybody wins. You "going for yours" without any thought for the people or the animals that don't even know they are doing anything wrong, is just going to send someone off the deep end. I know if One of my neighbors did that to me and my 8 dogs, I would not take that too well.
Anywho....... Lets problem solve for the benefit of man and beast, not just our selfish selves......
As someone who has been involved in animal rescue for a long time, and has seen some horrific ways people and authorities treat animals, I ask for your consideration of this point of view.....
Thanks guys:beer:

Perhaps some 33 decibel ear plugs? I've used ear plugs many times to go to sleep. I don't hear a thing :)

Or you could move out to the country. I have 21 acres and all the quiet I need. Good luck in getting the problem fixed.

First check with your township and see if there is a "bark ordnace" My Township has one and it states that after 10 minutes the dog (s) owner is subject to a fine.
You reall need to talk to the offending dogs owner. There are no "bad dogs" only "bad" owners:)
I liive with some great neighbors who put up a beagle. Trust me no dog is louder than a beagle. The baying noise sound they make could be heard a mile away.
Start with the pet owner and go forward.
Good luck and keep us posted.

I love beagles, grew up with them, but that's why i don't have any. Sweet music when they're trailing a rabbit. Not so sweet when just in the back yard.

I got a crazy chocolate lab. I walk her about two miles a day. My neighbors walk their little yappers, and they bark at her constantly and go crazy jumping and pulling their owners leashes. She just stops looks at them and wags her tail, actually I never heard her bark at any dog, just stops and wags, BUT.... let someone ring that door bell, and all hell breaks loose......

I always found that small dogs are yappers. Not all but 90%.

I had a chocolate lab that was the exact same way. If she barked, there was someone either at the door or close to the house.

Sorry, but I refuse to rearrange MY life just because my neighbor decides to have a lot of dogs and not be responsible for them!
If I choose to blast my stereo out on my deck everyday,
Should my neighbors be forced to put up with my actions just because I love my LOUD stereo??
If you own pets....train them and take care of them....PERIOD!

She has shock collars on them but there not tight enough on the dog and there set to the lowest setting, because when the dogs get close to the fence i can hear them humming and beaping. I pretty sure they just bark becuase there bored and get zero attention.
She shouldnt even have the dogs.

Its not quite that easy Joe..Your definition of "responsible" may be different than theirs..... Should One at least try to define it jointly???..... There has to be some sense of "come along to get along" for this kind of situation..... If you approach it from that perspective, most are usually willing to do their part....... After all I'm sure the rumble of side pipes probably irks a neighbor of yours and you don't even know it... Could be or maybe not, but in this case its the message and the technique of the messenger that determine an outcome everyone can win with.
Not looking to start a pissing match about this with you, but neighbors owe it too each other to not only look out for ea. other, but also to be civil and in some cases make allowences for ea. other....Finding ways of working together in order to make a neighborhood anyone would want to live in is what raises property values (if anything can in this economy).

Sold by most pet/vet supply catalogues. Mount on your house/garage, aim at offending dogs yard, dog barks & sets off the device which shoots an ultrasonic blast at the yard and doggy shuts up! The rest of the neighbors will thank you & will save confrontation issues. Good luck!
