I turned overdrive off on the freeway on the way home and I swear my car felt faster and stronger with it off, is this true or is it just me? Lol

Prolly, you went from an O/D ratio of .70:1 to 3rd gear, which is 1:1, plus you were pulling move revs which would put you higher in the power band.

Try doing that at highway speeds for a couple weeks and let us know how your gas mileage is doing... ;)

It's what you should do when you're doing a little spirited driving. Downshifting at WOT is hard on the OD band, so you'll be wanting to turn OD off before you go mashing on it.

I use my OD button to rev-match time 3-2 downshifts. Probably not the best for the car but it sure surprises people lol
Push the button in 3rd, wait 1.75 seconds or so and give it a rev. Takes some practice but you get used to it and it can come in handy merging or running from a roll, not that I ever do that

I been using the O/D button like this since I owned the car. Never had a tranny issue and its recommended when going WOT.

Definitely click off that overdrive if your doing some spirited driving.

Highway cruising it's cool to leave it on, helps the gas mileage

I was curious about driving the car in O/D off at 70mph puts the RPMs equivalent with 3.55's to what rear gear ratio? 4.10's?

The result of this kind of spirited driving is additional wear particles into the transmission pan.
I drop my Marauder's trans pan about every 30,000 mile to clean the magnets and freshen the trans fluid. Some members who drag race have installed drain plugs and install clean trans fluid at as low as 15,000 miles. This additional transmission service will help prevent the problems that can occur by 60,000 miles with spirited driving. The transmission servicing is a lot cheaper than a new trans.
