So I hooked up my Autometer oil pressure gauge w/ sender and now it jumps right to 100psi.
I used the wire from the -73 cluster when I did my Marauder gauge swap so I wonder if that is where my issue is.
I ohmed out the sender and the connector at the sender and have ground. Have ground from the block to the connection.
I think I may just run a 18 gauge wire direct from the sender to the gauge and be done with the OEM wiring.
Any ideas/thoughts ???
thanx as always

It'll do that on cold startup, mine always pegs the gauge when cold. Once it's warmed up it settles down to 25 or so at idle and 75 cruise.

Like he ^^^^ said. 100+psi is normal on cold startup. When warm / hot 25psi at idle and 60 - 80 psi when off idle.

Are you using a Marauder OEM gauge or a real autometer gauge? The OEM one is a glorified dummy light and won't sweep like a real gauge will. If its a real autometer then the 100psi at startup is normal like was said.

I put in the "real" Autometer #4327 with the oil pressure sender at the motor.
Stays at 100 and even when warmed up it doesn't drop. May just do a direct wire.

Found the problem. emailed tech support at AutoMeter and they recommend checking the terminals on the back of the gauge.
Stupid me, never thought of that one:mad2:.
Sure enough, ground terminal was loose. Tightened it up and good to go:banana2::bows:
