Does the hot air come out the vents, floor or just the defroster?

Could be a vacuum leak or blend door motor problem. Might need the EATC repaired.

My crown vic used to do this, try the self test.
To enter the self-test, press the OFF and FLOOR buttons simultaneously and then press the AUTOMATIC button within two seconds. The display will show a pulse tracer going around the center of the display window. The test may run as long as 30 seconds. Record all DTCs displayed.

I used to have to do this test every year when I wanted to use the A/C. Once the test was complete it would work fine all summer.

I currently have this problem on my Marauder, seems the blend door has failed with lack of use (how does that work ) but have been too busy to worry about it.

Originally late last year it would only blow AC, the test showed blend door failure, and there was a loud clicking through the test. Somehow I exited the test before it was done by pressing something, and it kept the door stuck on heat. Now I will have to mess with it again if I want AC...:bigcry:

Just tried the self test on Linda's DTR. No codes, but still blowing warm air and compressor isn't even trying to cycle. acts like the refrigerant has discharged.

Very possible. The receiver / dryer has a tendency to rust out.

I just did the test and the thing started clicking like crazy again and gave me 2 codes, 024 and 025 and going to see what these 2 codes are but the good thing is when i turned the car off and back on the AC was back working and blowing cold.

so code 024= blend door short and 025= blend door failure. What exactly do these codes mean, do i need to buy a new blend door? keep in mind the AC is currently back working fine after doing the test.

I may have that problem. Stopped by Walgreens yesterday and when i came out noticed this greenish colored liguid on the ground right front corner. Looked under car and it looked like it had come from there. Appears there may be a hole in the bottom. Haven't tried the ac yet. That would be a first for me.

Thats exactly what my a/c accumalator did! rusted from the bottom until all the freon leaked out.

Since they are such a pain to change, I buy from Ford. They are about $75 list, but most dealers sell for less.

Now as for changing them, it's not too bad, but you will need two people to move the dash back off and on. The book gives the procedure to pull the dash completely out of the car, but you really just need to move it back about 18-24 inches to get to the actuator. Also helps to have a small handed person to remove/install the screws.

We just did one two weeks ago and now have it down to 2 hours start to finish...

Buy new from the dealer. About $75.00.

It's not easy to replace. You want to do it one time.
