I have an emissions inspection coming up Monday morning. After reading posts dealing with the topic, I tuned it back to stock yesterday and drove around for awhile. This sucks! I've never driven it stock since I purchased it with the Lidio tune installed. Just not the same car :(

Yeah, it is really a huge difference with and without the tune!!

Yup, doesn't have "the bite" and bounces off the rev limiter when wot, exhaust doesn't sound as smooth and those DREADED SHIFT POINTS. Was more impressed with shift point then the tune when first put Zach tune on.

So why not simply change the tune for inspection day then put the upgrade back on once you have passed? Aren't the tuner devices which store several setups a few hundred bucks?

maybe I'm missing something....

My car passed emissions with lido tune and trilogy, no problem....Why are you guys having to revert to stock?

I needed a special tune to pass with the tune still in here in NYS. You'll need to drive about 175 miles of mixed driving to get all six perimeters back on board. There is an actual sequence to do it, its nuts and IIRC was about a page long. 5 of 6 systems working to pass here. Of course this IS the PRNY...

Are your emission tests any different than Ohio's? As long as no codes, or codes recently cleared, and cats are visible, it passes.

The parameters that our state uses all came up "unsupported" with my Zack tune. We resorted to a "tailpipe test" (vs. the computer) at a private facility and it passed with flying colors.

Interesting. I guess it really does vary state-by-state and even inspection person-by-inspection person. Never had an issue with my vehicles passing emissions in Texas with tunes in my various vehicles that range from just a tune to full on built/blown.

This is the first year using the "new " emmisions testing in our state. I've had my tune since '09 and never a problem before now...BTW after getting the "tailpipe" test results, the guy told Eric he'd never seen such low emission numbers.

Was the new and old emissions testing both via OBD II monitor/plug?

California is pretty strict, but the Test-only spot I took it to couldn't tell anything was different. I passed with my Lidio-tune, so Rhode Island shouldn't be a problem. I just had this done a few months ago.

Was the new and old emissions testing both via OBD II monitor/plug? Yes, but it seems our state has new softwear this time around.

It may pass here in RI with a tune but after reading several posts of owners not passing with tunes, , I decided to temporarily go back to stock to avoid not passing, just in case. Plan to put the tune RIGHT AFTER the inspection.

Our state has adopted I/M readiness tests as well. Out of 11 total for OBD11 cars, I believe the MM uses 9 of those, mine only have 2 turned on.

Everyone seems to have a story re being checked, on my GN with the changes I made I could never pass, I had some of the best in the country working on it, Harry my freind at Precison Turbo is known nation wide as the God of GN's. Soooooooooo the fix was to jump the Air conditioner to continue to run even when showing turned off in the car, everything is to show off during the test, yep one jumper wire, apparently it loaded the engine just enough to pass. To be Honest we stumbled accross this while working on a fix.

So why not simply change the tune for inspection day then put the upgrade back on once you have passed? Any time you "re-tune" the car, it clears all the I/M Readiness monitors. It can take anywhere from a couple of days to a week's worth of driving for them to complete. In MA, you can have one monitor incomplete...any more and it's an automatic FAIL.

I guess Eric was low on fiber that day.

Mine failed with the tune that came with my Trilogy supercharger, they keep getting UNSUPPORTED.
I went to someone and just redid the tune from scratch. Problem solved.

Well, just got back from the inspection station with the following results...

OBDII Readiness - Fail
Catalytic Converter Efficiency - Not Ready
Secondary Air System - Unsupported
Heated Catalyst - Unsupported
A/C refrigerant - Unsupported
Evaporative Emissions Control System - Not ready

I have 52 miles on it since I put it back to stock, guess that's not quite enough. I'll take it for a highway 100 mile trip afterwork and hopefully it should pass....no?

100 miles of highway driving will not do it. You need about 175 total of mixed driving and that does include highway at 65-70mph, IIRC. As I said above, there is an extensive procedure from Ford on how to do it. Straight highway run is not going to work. Thats why RF used days of regular driving as a solution. Worse comes to worse go to a dealer you know and ask for them to print you the procedure. Or get a tune that will pass.

It took my Escort just under two weeks before my scanner showed all ready. The Marauder took about 4-5 days.
