hello everyone!!!

Well i need you all advice if its worth it or walk away, ok I came across with a MM that was flooded like three weeks ago in a hail storm that we had in our valley, here are some details, the car was half way under water maybe a little less and it was under water for 24hrs or less, the car as it sits looks phenomenal . Now the biggest problem is that the beautiful car won't start? the car has like 63k black and black interior its a 2004 had traction control and heated seats oh and the best.. moon roof are all these option worth it? wast the most you'll pay for a vehicle that will have this problem. Im not really concern about the work that has to get done im more concern about the fact that is flooded, he said he sealling it because he just had liability and he is to old to restored. how big will the corrosion problems be? how much money will i invest?how will i prevent mold? to many questions and the list goes on.. leather will mess up?

I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR HELP. AND I HOPE THIS NEVER EVER HAPPEN TO YOU GUYS NEVER !!!

I'd give 3 or 4 grand just for parts. Water doesn't hurt bumpers!

Casey as a guy that has looked at a bunch of Marauders I agree. $3-4,000.00 would be tops. A flooded car will have electronic, engine and trans problems.
Remember they shipped thousands of cars to the North after Katrina.

Its a total hit or miss type of deal could be minor repairs, or the car from hell, i would prolly pass on that one.

Depends on how willing and how far you and your pocketbook can go. Motors and transmissions can be fixed or replaced. From your description most of the wires sound like they remained dry. Mold in the seats and carpets will be a possible issue. Without knowing exactly what and how far the car was submerged it's really a guessing game on our part. Like CBT said wheels bumpers and the like will dry off.

Do you have any pics of the car while it was submerged? It might help us help you.:)

the car sits on the back of the sellers yard, when the storm hit us i was at home and 1/4 of the city half ways under water, where the car was parked that night people were posting pics on Facebook i did not see the marauder but sure did saw alot of cars little less than the dashboard, and the owner mentioned me the same thing. My plans are first open the engine and transmission along with the differensial if is not major i will take all the interior out and if it looks bad i will part it out...

Sounds like a project for someone with oodles of cash and a limitless desire for materializing their perfect ideal of a Marauder.

If you were to approach this project expecting most of what's on the car to be a loss, it could be a fun long-term project to get it running and get it awesome again.

I don't think it's worth the risk. My sister sank a 1998 Avalon..twice and the car still runs like a top. On the other hand my gf nose dived her Infiniti into about 3 ft of water and hydrolocked the engine; thus totaling it. Water will cause undiagnosable electical nightmares in vehicles, I would continue your search!

won't start was it attempted right after the flood I.E. not removing the spark plugs or not start plugs were removed
sinking one in fresh water you have about a 50% chance of being ok

Like other members have stated, the rims and bumpers are usually in demand...maybe get back in the neigborhood of $3K for these parts if you had to part it out? Maybe get another $500-1000 for all other parts that were not touched or damaged by the water? Can you afford the risk if the car cannot be fully restored? Do you have someone you can trust to take a look at it and give you feedback as to whether it can be salvaged or not?

It is a tough decision that can be easily distorted by emotions. Please let us know if you do buy it and keep us updated on the status of the restoration project. Good luck!

the gentle men is a full time oil rig worker, no time for him he did mentioned that only one time he tried to star the marauder and it was like 3 days ago.I've been trying to put the puzzle together and my thinking is that the started is the main damage thing other that the half of the car corrosion will be my enemy on this one other that mold.

Me and Dennis Gage always say "Restore em, don't crush em".

Corrosion shouldn't be a big issue if you tear out all the carpets and let it dry out. The outer parts get wet in the rain so that's not such an issue. What rots cars is salt that is spread on the roads in Winter. If the motor and trans are shot replace them with better ones.

I'm of the opinion that if you can buy it cheap and have the money and time to fix it then go for it.

One other thought....has the owner of it now submitted an insurance claim? If not you should be able to get a regular title when you fix it rather than a salvaged one.
