Ouch, that hurt. Put in the VIN for my silver 04, and it came back as a 2004 Mercury Marauder. Put in the VIN for my black 03, and it came back with a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis LS...

Says my MM is a 300A, (AD6BG2003, JOB #2 PROGRAM CONTROL. YZBCA 300A.) I always thought I had a 300B, because of:
Traction control
Manual fuel door
Mini Spare
Dot Matrix on upper portion of windshield
No map pockets
Clock in radio
No Hood Light
park brake automatic release
Gold anti-freeze


Build date 1/7/2003, when did the 300B start production?, i always heard and read, "that Early November 2002 was the change in the production line, with some items deleted, such as remote gas door opener, etc., which was signified by the change from 300A to 300B" I guess I have a Hybrid...:lol:

It says 2004's are 300A's. It's reading the build sheets from Ford.

That is because all '03's were using Grand Marquis Vin # sequesnce in the beginning but all other list pertaining to them showed the Marauder items contained within the car-it wasn't til the 04's came out that the Marauder got its OWN VIN # --M79 vs the M75 of the 03's-

Thefirst production of each year all "A" and then the second production of the same year become "B"--so each year as them both.
