Well if you read this thread: http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=79468
You'll know I recently sold off my decrepid but faithful old Chevy p/u.
Here is it's replacement! New Blue (coincidence)! Looks black in pic from setting sun. Now I can pick up stuff from Menards!

Looks nice. I haven't seen one of those Sun visors in a while. Does it actually work? Hope you have good luck with it.

Looks very clean......I see by the grille that it might be a lariat model?

The guy that owned it didn't beat it. It is still tight, no rattles, clunks, etc. for 140,000 miles.
He was easy on the driveline also. He installed a vacuum guage which means he drove for maximum fuel mileage.
Virginal rust - no bondo.
It's not exactly what I wanted but when it comes to buying used you usually don't get everything you want...

I had an 03 FX4 supercab with a 5.4. GREAT truck ... lowsy gas mileage. I sold it only to buy the crew cab Sierra Z71. The Supercab just would not fit the carseats ...
You will enjoy that truck for a long time!

Not to rain on your parade, but did you watch the crash test videos for that generation supercab F150?
Looks like a clean truck though, stay safe! :)
Thanks for the info but not an issue to me for the 500 miles a year I will be driving it. :)

MM is DD for me. Bought New Blue to use for hauling & as secondary to drive while MM is down for mods. This plan then changed to include driving in winter & parking MM during the "salty days". I now find myself enjoying driving it so much I am thinking of driving 2 or 3 times a week to keep the miles down some on MM!

The grille is standard on the XLT 4x4. There are some 4x2s that have the grille and the color keyed mirror covers as an option.

What year is your "new" F150?
Did you see if the recalls have been done on it?
BTW, I'm looking at a couple of Deep Wedgewood blue F150s. On is a '99 and the other a 2000.

1999 - 140,000 miles
I believe the carfax stated no open recalls but don't remember for sure.
I just love driving the thing, feels good to shift gears again! :D

Spent 6 months searching for a MT, just wish iot was 6spd. Miss Low gear.
I wanted a F250, V8/10/dsl, MT, 4wd, std/super cab, 8' box.
Had to settle for the F150 with short box.. It'll do for a couple years till I can find what I want.

Thanks for the info!
Only 1 prior owner and he babied it. 140k yet everything is tight - no rattles or squeaks or loose body/interior parts. He mounted vacuum guage on A-pillor so was driving for max fuel mileage, means not beat. :coolman:

Upper latches no longer work due to deteriorating cable sheath ends. The 2 trucks I mentioned earlier have this issue.

Should I bother to replace for prevention or just wait till they break?

Wait until they go. Maybe it happens where the heat and humidity have an effect on plastic.
Also keep an eye on the digital display. Some have been known to work on and off. The two that I am looking into have this issue.

What causes the digital odometer to to turn on & off when ever it wants?
Not mine but a friend has the identical truck in 2wd V6 which does this.
Thanks for info! :D
