It's been a ROUGH week here for sure! 50 hours of brutal sun while digging, and hauling azz laying pipe (not that kind sickos) trying to get an underground in for a McDonalds and a Firestone. Crotch rot anyone???

Next week, roof penetrations at an Aldi, and a Walgreens... Great even CLOSER to the sun! Rest of the week in the AIR CONDITIONING setting fixtures at a prechool! For once, that actually sounds like FUN! ;)

Fierce storms ripped through the CAM area from VA, DC, MD and DE last night. Lots of trees down. Cars crushed. Houses damaged.

Over 1 Million people without electricity this morning. That means no A/C for many. I slept through the storm. Branches and stuff all over the place. No damage here and the A/C is cranking.

Another hot one predicted today. Outside temp sensor on the MM hit 108* on the way home from work yesterday.

While I miss being in the trades (for those from Chi-town, I was in Local 134 IBEW), I don't miss any of what Bob is going through. Had the pleasure of being assigned to O'Hare when they were putting their passenger tram system during the summer if 1988 and got to walk the rails to wire the control boxes. NO shade and metal rails, on the plus side that was the best year I tanned and actually looked human.
Be careful in the heat Bob and just remember, When God said let there be light, We sparkys already had it piped and wired to go. :D

DC does not have 1 Million people. I think it is closer to 500-600K. DC Population Facts: 572,059.

They must have meant the DC, MD, VA area because they were counting SMECO customers way down in Southern Maryland.

Made a run up to Maryland today. Lots of areas without electricity. Many traffic signals out. Evidence of trees down, branches snapped and leaves in all the streets. Glad I slept through it . :o

I read 'em all. ;)

Still lots of people without power. Could be DAYS before everyone is back on line. Sprint and Verizon cellphone service has been disrupted. There were 5 people killed by falling trees ... some in cars and some in houses.

Prince William County, VA lost its oldest, champion registry tree ... a 200-year old White Oak tree that was 107 feet tall called the "Four Seasons Liberty Oak".

No power at my place.

I came down Route 3 through Crofton yesterday afternoon about 4:00 PM and traffic signals were still out at many of the major crossroads. Few intersections had police control since the outages were so widespread they can't possibly be at all the locations.

Used my laser thermometer a couple days ago-----
Outside air temp-------106 degrees
Hood temp--------------165 "
Deck temp---------------171 "
Roof temp---------------174 "
Seat temp---------------109 "
Steering wheel temp---113 "
Floor temp---------------108 "

I have 35% ceramic window tint
"The Shade" retractable windshield shade
These readings were made at Noon
The Marauder A/C is producing cold air in about 3 minutes---makes Summer survivable.

Note:: For those of you with Motorcraft batteries with the removable battery caps, Please check your water level in the cells and fill to mark with distilled water --- it'll save your battery---watch your battery voltage closely--a low idle plus high blower can throw a real load on the battery.
Stay cool---drink LOTS of water and an occasional Gatorade---wear sun screen and DO NOT Run or Jog if the THI is over 90 degrees.
This is based on 36 Texas Summers experience. Maury:beer:

Friday we hit 96...1 shy of the record
Yesterday we hit 98...broke old record of 95
Today's forecasted high is 96...at 96 now...currently ties old record.

For the month of June we ended up with 3" deficit in rainfall...at the beginning of June, we had a small surplus for the year; about half-inch....so much for that!

Makes me wanna go start up my Gennie...

Another round of storms just blasted thru a couple hours ago. While my LAZY 13 year old WATCHED me, I got the Honda and cords out and got all the important things going again. What is with this laziness with todays kids? I hollar at mine daily about stupid shat and they get this "crap, he's right" look, but then go back off to lala land... I would have gotten my head punched in had I pulled that move with my step dad!

Well all is good but A/C. I think she could handle that as well even if I had to alternate the power, but I don't have the proper cords set up for that. Yet.

It got up to 98º at 1 p.m. here :fire: :censor: before some light rain moved into the area & cooled off to 87º now. All I had been doing is cracking the windows of the Marauder during the day & closing them when it rains or after sunset, whichever comes earlier. Yep no power here, I'm in DC. They said possibly a week:alone:

Three (3) days after the storms went through here, the DC Metro area still has 470K + customers without power. They have set of goal of 85% back on line by Wednesday. 90-95% by Thursday. Some won't have power until next weekend.

Many gas lines forming in Maryland where alot of the gas stations have not been able to pump gas without power. People are driving around looking for an open station only to find long lines or run out of gas before they get to the pump. Lots of offices and businesses closed today. The commute will be bad since many traffic signals are not up and running yet. Montogomery County and Prince George's County in Maryland seem to be among the hardest hit.

Don't think I have ever seen a storm cause this much disruption including some hurricanes that have passed through in the past 40 years.

Still no power here. A hot and sticky loud night of generators. I set the clock for every two hours to fill the oil and check the gas of the Honda, not like I needed to as I couldn't sleep! 3 gals gas/ 2 1/2 qts oil. Still runs like a top.

The heat has been ridiculous here in Richmond. Three violent storms in the last week, but somehow I managed to not lose power. I tried working outside on the yard and later on a car I'm prepping to sell, but just couldn't do it. The heat has been miserable @ over 100, and lots of humidity.

She offered to have them stay at her house, but they said no, packed up, and went back to the hotel. As they were leaving, she told them to leave the front porch light on, which they did, and she would call them when it came on. She said they looked at her a little weirdly, and said....Thanks, kinda sarcastically.

She has a good heart, but a little naive, I told her to mind her own business, they might be a little :mad2:. I told her to wait for them to call, but she will probably call them anyway when she sees the light.

Seems the heat brings the best and the worst out of people.
