The first tank with the new tranny build & 36-3800 stall yielded 275 miles of pure driving enjoyment, til the," I'm thirsty again!" lamp came on.
The new closer favorite fill station was just a couple miles away.
The Pig sucked 18.750 gallons on 277.4 miles netting a measley 14.8X smiles per gallon :lol:
I drove regular most of the time but for anyone I came across, who hadn't been for a tootle in a while, got the very last of the old BFG's .

Ouch! The higher stall converters definitely reduce the gas mileage...

These coments show were exactly why I was so concerned about going to this route.
Guys;
I wailed on the car for nearly 300 miles showing friends how it screams now(shreaded still another set of BFG's), it drives smoother than a limo and still got 15 MPG?
Say Circle "D" for the MFW!:banana2:

Thats why I kept my stocker! Even when I had my built race trans done. I told them to leave the convertor alone!

Especially for a car with a ROOTS BLOWER!

High stall speed converters have there place!, i would never put one on a n/a stock engine for the street! you loose more than you gain.

But to each there own

I would disagree with some, i have been around enough racing and im telling ya'll a higher stall than stock on a heavy car will be a BETTER performer in a racing enviroment as long as you can plant the power to the ground N/A PD or Centri . usually the guys that dont like the stall are just folks who like to have fun with their cars and don't race often.

I would have agreed with you until I sampled the highly effecient and silky smooth Circle D convertor.

the car definitely GTFO when i hit the pedal but for a car that i used as a car and not a race car i did not like it.

Had a stall speed converter put in my torino years ago when i had tranny rebuilt and did not like it at all it was like driving with a slipping trans and yes it killed the gas mileage too .never again well not for a street drivin car for sure.my .02 .
