My son in college drives the ol' Volvo 240 GL that I bought new in '88. Still putting along with 312,000 miles. I just did the regular manual maintenance and so does he. The A/C compressor shelled out this summer, Geez, only lasted 24 years.:lol: He took it in the local A/C shop ....600.00..:eek: ..he's sweating it out..:D...hoping for an early fall.

3 Million miles is the equivalent of 515 cross-country road trips from Orient Point, NY to Coronado, CA AND back ..... or about 11 of these trips per year. One cross-country trip and back per month. He'd spend 10 ten-hour days on the road every month.

I just completed 3100 in 8 driving days. Worked out to be ~5 hours on the road a day, with three kids under the age of 7.

At the time the this article was written he had been to Montreal, Texas and Michigan in the last month. So yeah, a lot of road trips.

Five years ago was Seattle, only 2200 miles.

My friend worked at the Volvo dealer this guy goes to. He says you would never know it has even 100k on it. Still looks good.
