To much for a marauder for her 1st car . Hes looking for around 3800- trying to push it and get it for 3k . Wouldn't pay a penny over $3k for that. Rode hard, put away wet, left to rust.

Who knows as far as cost on the exhaust leak? Call a few shops, get estimates. Everyone's gonna be different.

$1500 or walk away, that car is rough. I can tell you from experience what it will need......

The exhaust leak is broken off exhaust studs, all should be replaced, as it is just the beginning of issues with the studs, in my area, it's about $90 to do each side.

I will venture to say that it will need ball joints, tie rod ends and most likely a decent brake job, as opposed to a pad slap.

Then there are the soft axles in the 03 model year.

And the basic maintenance, service trans, plugs/oil/antifreeze changed, thermostat, hoses and to fix anything in general that is not working.

I bought a DPB P71 last summer to give to a neighbor that needed a car, I found a "over maintained" one on CVN, sort of close to me, 3k for the car, 3.5k for the parts to fix and un***** what mods the previous owner did with his ASE tech buddy who was apparently clueless.

That car had 1 broken front spring, even though the brakes had just been done, they must have missed that somehow, so I replaced everything, rotors, calipers, hoses, all ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar end links, O2 sensors, tires, serviced AC, trans, replaced 2 window regulators, half the dash bulbs were burnt out, serviced the rear end, fuel filter, air filter etc..... you get the point, if you can't do most of these things yourself, or have a dad/brother/friend who can, I would take a pass.

Sorry for the long winded story, I just don't want to see someone into one of these cars and then have to put more in parts/labor than the car itself.

You keep saying she. I find it odd that a female would want a used vomet comet (p71) find a lightly used 1 owner rust free mint car for less money than that.

The good: silicone hoses, new rear shocks and bushings, push bar?
The not so good: rust, has Winter F32 tires on it that will be burnt off in the summer.
Mileage does not tell whole story, no engine hour meter on it. I'd say it has easy another 20,000 miles of idle time on it. (so add that)

If tensioners are worn (ticking!?!) and clanging you can jump a chain soon and grenade engine. Repair is $150-$200 in parts and 4-5 hours labor.

Agree with Spectragod on the broken stud. Nightmare to remove broken stud, may have to pull engine to remove it. Other studs will break off in the process...

Hes looking for around 3800- trying to push it and get it for 3k .FWIW, I paid 3600 for my 2000 MGM (from a used-car dealer). 120,000 miles, but it was a one-owner car (I have the title), garage-kept and seems to have been well-maintained. The underside is very clean for a New England car.

While I applaud a girl wanting a Panther, if you really like her either help her find a better one, or be prepared to help her fix up this one.

Pass on that one,my 2002 from the rust capitals,Illinois and Chicago, didn't have anywhere near 1/4 the rust that one has and had a ton of good mods and upgrades on it when I sold it this June.
Here's link to a white 2004 with less than 80K miles at an online auction near Chicago. I had a bid in on it myself.

No push bars on a Marauder unless it's an actual Law Enforcement vehicle.

No 24" rims.

No landau or faux convertible tops.

No painting it orange or lime-green.

Wth all the rust buckets up north it seems it would be cheaper in the long run to pick a southern city where you have friends/relatives, troll Craigslist and make a list of 5-6 cars and go look at them there. You can get a cheap flight on Southwest. At least you could be sure you werent getting a northern state rust bucket.
