In the lounge since it's not a Marauder...I went from this:

To this a day later:

Went to lane-change into a lane that was moving good on the QEW, then that lane panic stopped. I hit the brakes but was too late, ended up sending the car into a donut across three lanes of traffic to avoid the car in front of me. Smacked a guardrail at 50 to 60mph. Point of impact was the rear passenger quarter - hit so hard that the driver's side quarter buckled, the trunk area was completely shifted, etc.

Drove it back to Cleveland, achieving an estimated 25-26mpg based on the position of the gas gauge and previous trips. Pulled straight and other than a VERY LOUD CLUNK whenever I'd hit a large bump/dip in the road, got home without incident. The car did its job; other than a stiff neck I feel absolutely fine.

Of course the timing sucks since the Marauder is down for the count, but Slow White did her job.

The collision center stopped adding up repair costs when they got to $7200. I am waiting for a report from the insurance company, and I'm sure they'll lowball me. :mad2:

At least I got the rims...

When the "quasi-frame" is bent, The costs sky rocket. The costs for using the frame straightener are per second, not per hour. And they sent Al Capone to jail for being a crook.
What about the dealership that says an LCM is $ 1300 to replace..... They get to stay in business. Thank God our club has people with talent and friendship, who keep us from the thieves at certain dealerships and some repair shops. Not all are bad, but you have to find them. Now we can add Body Shops to the list.

That's some good driving on your part to not have hit anyone else. It sucks, but it could've been worse...so kudos to you for not injuring yourself or anyone else! Hopefully the insurance company won't be too unreasonable.

I had an 06 vic that totaled out with $8200 in damage last year, that car will fix, the rattle is probably an exhaust pipe, that car will fix for less than 3k in the right shop.

Guess I should be thankful we have so many bodyshops here in Texas with plenty of workers who learned their trade fixing junk cars south of the border. I dont see that as a 7k repair here in Texas to be honest. Nice car by the way, sorry about the wreck but glad all are ok.

I was also surprised to hear that I managed to rack up that much $ in damages. She was a sweet ride and probably the best-driving Panther I've owned out of the three.

Do your homework on the value of your car before you talk to the insurance company. They will offer a low ball number first but if you can say similar cars are going for _____ in the KBB and NADA and you checked out prices for similar cars on Autotrader etc you can perhaps come to some sort of happy medium and replace your Slow White with a decent replacement.

Good luck. :)

Glad you're okay and glad it wasn't the MARAUDER, phew!

Slow White was a beauty and definitely did her job. I wish I had my 04 CVPI lookin' just as sweet as your Merc. Hope things work itself out in the end. Long live Slow White...

We'll see what they say. I've got a number in my head of what I'd find acceptable, but I think it's probably gonna be thousands away from what the insurance company says. So yeah, I've been doing homework on comparable cars.

Bingo Spectragod is right on the money. As for Body repair cost of Frame damage is no different then other Body repairs. As for the Frame on that hit, If it even has any it would be VERY minimal at all. now the inner qtr & floor pan are crumpled for sure. But actually a easy fixer from the pics.

Sorry for your loss. It looks like a nice car. My GM brought me only $3500 trade in nearly 5 years ago. It was a beautiful 2001 with 118k.

No wonder I see so many nice cars with minimal to no damage in the junk yards. It takes almost nothing to total them...... $90+ per hour is the norm now......surely padded by the insurance company to easily total old cars instead of fixing them....reduced rates behind the scenes for cars that are cheaper to fix......albeit very poorly......

I have my property and casualty insurance license so I know all the complex calculations insurance companies use to figure this ***t out.......

Keep me informed with what your adjustor says because i am in the same boat as you right now. (see my thread in the main forum)
