Recently Ford unveiled a 2003 Police Inerceptor "concept Car" at the NY Auto Show.

It is similar to the current CV body style, but has a new front end including awesome looking headlights and bumper.

The back also has new tail lights and reverse lights and bumper.

Here are a couple of links that you can look at the car.

Will this be the new Marauder body style next year or the following year???

Yah, I saw that awhile back. I could NOT see our 18"s on that! Besides, I think that's more of a concept... I don't think CV bodies are due for a body change for awhile. Mustang is though...

For a cop car, yes. The future direction of the CV and our beloved MM? I hope not. IMHO the front end is ugly. And no side marker lamps?

If Ford builds that !#@$ I am going to have to get all of those damn parts. Did YOU SEE THE REAR BUMPER???? Love the nose, but I dont think I would get the push bar. Like the wheels too. oh well like the beach boys said "Wouldnt it be nice", although I do like our taillights better.
ha ha ha

Oh, I see the side markers now: down in the fenders. Still don't like it, though. IMHO Ford has finally gotten the CV about perfect with the '02-'03...

I agree with Macon Marauder...the nose AND the tail are ugly...looks like a Matchbox car...but then again, I liked the old boxy Volvos, so what do I know...

That Police Interceptor concept was introduced almost a year ago.
It is just a concept, but on the heals of Chrysler announcing a RWD sedan and wanting to re-enter the Police vehicle market in a more serious way, I think that concept may reflect future direction of the Police Interceptor. Apparently there was a 300+ hp prototype Interceptor at this years MSP(Michigan State Police) police vehicle trials. I haven't seen the published review though.
I wouldn't expect to see any of that specialised front or rear end treatment on the rest of the Panther line.
A while back there was a "future plans" list from ford, and it indicated the next major restyle for the Grand Marquis/Crown Victoria would be about 2006, and the line would be around until about 2009

The current body design may draw from the 1998 model, but chassis changes for 2003 make it perform like a completely different car

That's right. Ford stated that the body style would be refreshed in 2006. I am wondering if the Marauder will get a HP boost at the same time. Historically, Ford usually tweaks the motor and ups the HP when they restyle a car. Should be interesting.

Dunno, guys. I was struck by some of the comments, and opinions expressed. Kind of cool, really, although I hardly have time to stay current. :)

Just as long as we dont bring up the "marauder interceptor" thread, we'll be doing fine! Anyone seen one of those yet? LOL
