Short story to follow the long story,
Long story:
So we have this house that we are renting and have been in for 3 years now. In our lease, we cannot have any dogs, cats, birds, rodents, reptiles etc. But no where does it say we cannot have fish.
So about a year ago we bought a fresh water setup for a tank that we already had. Lots of toys for the fish....sunken treasure, suken pirate ship, big cliffside rock with holes to swim through and some plants along with river rock to line the bottom of the tank. We purchased some fish a little over a year ago and after about a year of having them they slowly started to die off one by one....old age I guess. Well we had 2 original fish left and decied to buy 4 more.
Both sets are Platy,
one set is a Mickey Mouse Platy:

and the other is a Red Wag Platy:

and the last is a Gold Twin-barred Platy:

Well, about 2 months ago the Micky Mouse Platy gave birth to 14 babies. We still have 11 of those in a playpen type nursury in the tank.
Yesterday we found 25 new babies swiming about and had to collect all of those and put them in the playpen. Dont know if the other fish will bother them or try to eat them but we didnt want to find out.
So now we have 40 fish and we started out with 5.
I guess I know what fish do all day now!!:help:
We have to start finding new homes for them...that is way too many fish for us.
You think the fish store will buy them back???
Short Story:
We had 5 fish..
2 litters and 2 months later we now have 40 fish!!
I will take some pics tonight of our set ups. We have 2 tanks, one is the fresh water with all the babies and the other is a saltwater tank that we just started up about 4 months ago that has 3 damsels and 5 hermit crab and live rock and live sand.
