Could someone please tell me where I can find a link or information (or maybe someone else has had this problem) to diagnose a problem with my A/C. I was driving today with the A/C on max and the fan on the highest setting and I started smelling a burning plastic smell and then the fan quit completely.
I swapped the relays and circuit breaker around, pulled the blower out and connected it to a battery and it spun. I tested the voltage on the pink wire with white stripe at 12 volts, and the red wire at 4 volts. I pulled the control head unit and the wires look good and there is no burnt smell. Still the fan isn't blowing. Is there somewhere else to look or a next step to take?
Any ideas or help is much appreciated.

Check the blower resistor in the evap core case. It is near the back of the passenger side head.

Thank You. I saw it. Pull it and see if its burnt? Or bypass is with a jumper? I will look tomorrow.

yup, it's the Blower Control Module. Mine did the same thing back in June when I was visiting AZ. the part cost $90-ish at the dealer and took me about an hour to change out.
my suggestion is to wait for the motor to cool down before attempting to do the work... it's a tight squeeze behind the passenger valve cover

Mines went out and he sent me one of his for a small fee with the return of my OEM and its working or should I say blowing better than ever!!!!
And I know......that's what she said!!!!

Thanks. I think the coolant hose will have to come off. What a place for it..

Jim fixes BCM too?! I just though my old one away. And it recomends to take the heater hose lose but you don't have to.

Thanks for your guidance. I may order it from Rock and save half, 45 shipped. Ford wants 90 before tax.

Changed mine a few months ago. It IS a royal pain in the rear, you DO need to remove the heater hoses to gain access unless you have very, very small hands and Auto Zone (at least in STL) only has on of the 2 sizes needed. If I remember correctly, one end is bigger than the other on both hoses. Order the OEM hoses from the dealer unless somebody knows of a good alternative. Good luck and happy $#%^@*& words. Make sure the hose is on completely behind the engine... or it will leak and you have to try again. :-)

It was not bad once I took the hoses loose. I want to replace the one that runs from heater core to pipe but Ford wants $50.00 for that one hose and they will have to order it. THANKS for everyones help.

THANKS everyone part came Thursday and it is fixed working great. It was 102 today so it really got a workout. Rock auto had the blower resister shipped for 45 and heater hoses at Auto Zone for 10 each. Dealer wanted 50 per hose and 90 for part.. Thanks for your help. :burnout:
