Today I took an excellent drive from Alberta, through southern British Columbia, and south into Idaho for a short weekend vacation. I am returning home to Canada on Monday.
Gas in Cranbrook, just before crossing the US border, was priced at $1.39/L. Right after crossing the border at Bonner's Ferry we found the price was $3.45/gallon. That of course is for 87 octane; I left the Marauder at home.
So using the conversion that 4L equals 1.05668821 US gallons and totally ignoring the currently almost-par dollar exchange, we have the following:
Canada gas: 5.26 per US gallon
US Gas: 3.45 per US gallon
So my Explorer took $67 to fill in Bonner's Ferry and would have cost me over $100 to fill back home in Canada. And the two gas prices are within 45 minutes driving distance of each other!
Way to go Canada, thanks for the solid boning. What, are you that concerned about Kyoto that you need to force us into hybrids and smart cars? Don't even get me started on how much cheaper food and merchandise is in the US. I'm definitely buying property in the US and retiring here. I love this annual weekend vacation!
Sorry guys just had to get that out. Feel free to discuss ;)

Why Rant! Don't be jealous just join us. Heck, you can sneak over here and get FREE everything. They do it from the south. .........Wait.......how tall are you?..........what's your hair color?.....If you meet some of these criteria, then you have somewhat of a chance ;)

Depends on where you are for gas prices, you are from edmonton right? gas is $1.08 there now which equals $4.08 per US gallon, very close to prices in Chicago or Detroit. BC's gas is expensive with their extra taxes, as you know.
Apples and oranges, the 20 bucks a week you save on gas and the 20 more on groceries probably won't pay your monthly healthcare bill.
Lots of differences.

And just to add.. You'll be saving a boat load of money while your lying in bed sick and close to death while you patiently wait on the waiting list to get your free health care. ;)

Got my 2 new rear tires today and while I was out I gassed up at Costco,Prescott,AZ.
91 octane, the highest out here,$3.399 per gallon,of course there was a line that took 5-10 minutes to get through, but worth it.
I'd hate to think what it would've cost me in Chicago with all the taxes there.

^^^^^ Yeah, kammarade, my two deceased cousins would beg to differ...
Not gonna go any further in this thread on that, but if you would care to move down to SC, you can get 93 octane for $3.35 a gallon.
Just sayin.

See that's the plan, live in the US for the prices and then head back to Canada when I need warts removed.
Then I'll have a chance to hit up some Marauder meets as well! :)

I'm definitely buying property in the US and retiring here. Sorry dude, but our quota of Canadians was re-allocated to more allow more "undocumented immigrants" to live here free of charge.

Very important: it's always worse elsewhere! However Germany is slightly more than 45 minutes' drive! :)
