So I made a 360 mile round trip from RI to NYC today for lunch at Katz Deli in Manhattan. My JHS friends from 34 years ago decided to get together, great time!
I'm on my way back. 85 all the way except for the usual traffic spots. Get on the Newport bridge, this is hill type of bridge, not flat. I get over the top in the center and see a trooper coming my way from the opposite direction. I step on the brake a bit to slow down, he goes over the middle and out of sight.
I'm looking in my mirror and seeing the break lights of all the cars going over the top in the opposite direction. Damn, I say, he's turning around. I get in the right lane between a couple of cars. Next thing I see is the trooper appearing over the top of the bridge behind me in the left lane, catching up quick. Wheew, he PASSES me! I sigh with relief...and just before I start to smile, wouldn't you know he slows down and gets behind me, no lights.
We get off the bridge and he pulls me over at the gas station, gets out, takes my registration, etc. When he gets back, he informed me of my excellent driving record and asked if the Marauder goes any slower. Turns out I was going 71 on a 40mph bridge. He then asked if I'd be interested in selling the car. I asked him if it would get me out of a ticket.
He gave me my stuff back and said have a nice day :)
The Veteran plates may have helped a bit also :)
:woohoo:
