My MM is at the shop getting a front end respray. The fenders have original paint from the factory, and sport the crazing these cars are known for. (Hood had it too, but has already been replaced with Justbob's custom one.) The shop called me today and said the fenders have at least 5 coats of paint on them, and wanted more $ to take it all off. You really gotta wonder what the boys at Ford were smoking when they painted these cars, and how they slept at night knowing the paint jobs were so bad and how Ford ultimately declined to warranty it for most people.:mad2:

I'm amazed at all the sh:censor:t FORD got away with but it is slowly catching up to them. :shake:
I guess the employees at FORD totally lost one of the most important points...."PRIDE".
Ford should have fixed that issue with the paint but again the big problem always has to do with $$$$$.
Good ole saying by Joe Pesci from Lethal Weapon:
"They always f:censor:k you at the drive thru"
same point/saying can be said at the dealer aka stealership!

Give the unions time. They'll bankrupt Ford too.

Not just Ford but GM & Chrysler do the same thing in there paint depts. Thought process is keep painting it till it looks good. Ive seen some F-150 with around 8 paint jobs from factory. But heah almost 10-11 yr old cars the paint survived this long?

The crazing started long ago, so they did not "survive" 10 years. I think some barely made it 1 year.

Give Ford (http://investing.money.msn.com/investments/stock-price?Symbol=f&ocid=qbeb) some credit for being the only "American" automotive manufacturer to not take TARP money, but still have their stock price hammered burt ragio! :mad2:

I wonder how much the environment and user care causes some of the issues members have seen with their paint.
The paint on the Marauder I drive hasn't shown any "defects" to date, but keep in mind it is always garaged indoors and has never been driven in the snow. Just a thought, any opinions?

It was caused by excess solvent left in the lines after cleaning them. Nothing to do with the environment.

Oh, so it's basically hit or miss depending on what "day" Ford sprayed 'em tbone!
I'll consider myself lucky then! :)
