Hey guys, I started noticing that my pedals only move a short distance. I remeber reading that a gear goes bad, has anyone made a fix for this issue or any dyi repair guide? Thanks in advance.

Okay, awesome. Do they need a group buy? Has the company you're working with giving you a time frame? Thanks again

mine dont work either, but I think its at its farthest away position. When working does it move both gas and brake?

They move in tandem. Mine stopped working but I was able to put my foot under the brake and pull to me , then they worked but jammed later. I was able to get the to work off and on since. I am the only driver so as long as I am comfortable it really does not matter. Really , I would like everything working as designed or better

Mine don't move either, let me know if you are having trouble getting this made. I can have one quickly if we need it.

I don't need one right now, but as these cars age, I bet more and more people will have the issue.

I'm in for 2, whoever gets them made first, as long as the cost isn't ludicrous.

Any update? Went to go move mine back last night after my mom borrowed the car and it it only moves maybe 1.5-2" back, another inch or so and I could deal with it but they are stuck all the way forward.

I replaced mine with a new factory one right before MV10...the cost is so low ($153.77 from Ford) on the new unit I don't think that we make a new gear that cheaply, let alone instal it.

The gear at fault is plastic, the worm gear that drives it is steel...to make a better one it would have to be bronze or brass so it is a dissimilar metal...you have to grind or cut the swedge off from the shaft that the gear is on, remove the plastic gear from its steel hub, and then make a new gear to press onto the original steel hub... then re-instal it into our pedal assembly then tack weld the shaft....

EVERY MM will lose the pedals. The gear that breaks is inside the housing and is made of nylon. It wraps around a metal worm gear. The difference in temperature and material and the gear is a snug fit makes them all break. It will only go one revolution and then stick.

The only fix is to replace the assembly. Out here in the desert they go bad every summer when the internal car temp will get to 160 degrees. I have changed so many of them in MM/CV/GM's I gave up keeping up.

If someone has a metal gear made, I'm in for SIX to start off with!.. Even if is less than the cost of a new unit from Ford, it has to cost less over the long haul because it is a permanent fix.

I'm in for a group buy as well!

Unless the pedals were continually adjusted a steel gear would be OK, no more pressure than on those gears, they'd take a lifetime to wear out...

Hi all,

My Marauder had just under 36K miles on it when I bought it and the peddle adjustment wasn't working then. And it's close to the top so It would be great to get mine toward the bottom.

In a pinch you can take the cover off the gear assembly to access the broken gear. Its held on by two small screws. Once the cover is off you can "assist" the gear past its broken point to adjust the pedals is which ever direction you need. This will get you to a more comfortable position, but its not a permeant fix.

O.K. guys I will look into the cost on Monday. This will be a situation where we can sell the gear by itself if you are mechanically inclined and have access to the correct tools (welder etc) or you could ship me your pedal assembly and we could fix it. I'm on it Monday!

I'm sure 100 or more gears would sell out very quickly.

O.K. guys and gals here's the skinny on the gears. We can get them made out of brass, there would be no issues with them ever breaking again. Cost is going to vary depending upon how many we can get ordered but initial set up and first run puts us at $100 a piece shipped. You guys let me know if you are interested. I am sure that between here and CVC we should be able to get a decent minimum order in...if so we will be able to drop the cost down.

if you are mechanically inclined and have access to the correct tools (welder etc) or you could ship me your pedal assembly and we could fix it. Uh...I'd need a WELDER to replace the gear? It isn't just pressed on or keyed somehow? How much would you charge to replace it for me? (not including the cost of the gear itself)

The gear has external and internal threads, it is locked onto the center shaft by placing a washer onto the shaft and then stamping the end of the shaft. Since we don't have the stamping ability I figure I'll just tack weld it back on.

I will be more than glad to do the work for anyone, I'd say $10 bucks plus the shipping of the assembly would cover it. How does that sound?
