Locked keys in trunk

I locked my keys in my trunk earlier today the only set that came with car. I really don't wanna call locksmith to have them open it. I know I could break the right reverse light to get up but I don't wanna damage the car. Any suggestions??

If you can get in the car and electric unlock is broken, you may be able to get the seat back off with no damage. Then reach through and pull the 'flee the trunk' handle. You'll need a ratchet though.

if you press enough buttons the door will open and then press 5/6 as mentioned. Seriously, I have gotten into a few Fords by continuing to press numbers until the door opens

Yea the door code that came with car didn't work then it was changed then that one didn't work either but I'll try the random numbers then 5/6

Be advised the rear trunk fascia is not cheap. So my suggestion is try what you can before busting out that light. I had a 01 CVPI that I got stuck in a few winters back so I had a neighbor give me a push back to my house (like 15 houses down the road), it cracked the rear fascia and I spent a while going to junkyards with no luck. The fascia was almost $300 online new.

Best bet probably would be to:

1. Somehow get inside vehicle and push trunk release button on driver door panel

2. remove the rear seat and go from there...

Here's a little trick. There's a sequence of numbers that you can enter that hits every door code.


So, you know those cars with that keyless entry pad? The one under the driver's side handle? Well, if you look closely you will see that there are really only 5 buttons, labeled "1/2", "3/4", "5/6", "7/8", "9/0". In an effort to avoid a little confusion, I'm going to call those buttons 1, 3, 5, 7, and 9, respectively.

A little experimentation will reveal that, if the code is 11357, and you type 5113579, the door will still open! This means that with 7 characters we managed to try out 3 sequences - 51135, 11357, and 13579. After the inital 4 numbers (which sort of primed the pump) every digit tries one new sequence. Since there are 55 length 5 sequences of characters from an alphabet of size 5, we know that we'll need to try 3125 sequences total. With our intuition from above, we would hope that we could find a sequence of size 4 + 3125 (priming the pump, followed by one new sequence every keypress). It turns out that a mathematician named de Bruijn has already done all of the hard work for us on this one, and all of the relevant math can found under the names de Bruijn sequence and de Bruijn graph. But I'm not going to talk about math any further here. Right now, I am going to give you a sequence of minimal length that, when you enter it into a car's numeric keypad, is guaranteed to unlock the doors of said car. It is exactly 3129 keypresses long, which should take you around 20 minutes to go through.

That won't work on newer models, as those have a few minutes lock out feature after five incorrect codes are entered... I dunno exactly when this feature was started, may not apply to the '03/'04...

I've seen a '03 MGM with the code sticker on the side of the glove box, may be worth a look(mine is in trunk)...

Rather than bust ANYTHING, I'd just pull the rear seat, will then need a coat hanger or similar to go fishing...

Get a plastic wedge door stop and fold it in a soft towel. have someone use their fingertips to pry the door open from the top and gently work the wedge in. Once you have about 1/4" of free space use something like 1/4" diameter copper tube to pop the lock button.
or
get another Ford key that fits in your lock. Put some wd40 on it and slide it in and out of the lock while you gently twist it.

no matter what once you retrieve your keys get a copy made so you at least don't get locked out again. You can just get a cheap no-chip key for this.

Yea I called a locksmith they only charged $150 so it wasn't that bad. I got the default code for keyless entry out of the door panel so I'm good now just incase that ever happens again

This will work on the 2003's. I tried pushing a bunch of random buttons for a minute and then my real code without pausing and my door unlocked. I assume the 04's are the same, but I don't know for sure. You can probably unlock any Marauder with that number sequence and some patience.
