The Heizer Double Tap has been out for sale a few months now. Due to numerous improvements and new patents for this firearm Heizer does not call it a Derringer. The DT can be had with ported barrels that reduce recoil and muzzle flip. It can also store 2 extra rounds in its grip on a stripper clip.

For those that want a backup pistol for their job, its a great idea. There are already belt and pocket holsters from the manufacturers out. At .665" it is the slimest of handguns. The rags are giving it thumbs up reviews. The 3" barrel works well. Much like the Charter Arms 44spl Bull Dog it will be carried alot and shot little.

I'd like to see that .41 Remington derringer too sometime Gordon. They were very popular in their time. I read a article on it recently.

As a side note, the derringer was invented by John Deringer. His name was subsequently mis spelled and became synonomous with the small two barreled handgun. They are still available from several manufacturers in everything from .22LR to 45 Long Colt.

.45 to be exact. Usually 45LC (Long Colt, ala SAA fame)
Taurus and S&W both have .410 revolvers cataloged that will also shoot .45 pistol ammo. The Taurus Judge series is very popular and now includes a wheelgun rifled/shotgun with a grip that is pure pistol.

Until this Heizer Double Tap came out the LM4 was the narrowest pistol made - 1"/.9" w/skeletonized grips.
Price is what keeps me from buying it - +$2k!

Isn't Robar made down near you? They are pretty small, thin and pricey. The AMT 380 DA Backup I had could be used to bludgeon someone to death f you ran out of ammo....

I must have the company name wrong. Its a high end pocket 9mm that as far as I know is manufactured by hand on LI. Very well regarded, but not cheap.

Yeah, Bayport, NY - down to the south shore of LI and just a little bit west. Probably about 18 - 20 mile drive.
Very nice but only comes in 9mm!

Nothing wrong with 9mm with todays ammo. My newest squeeze is a 9mm 1911 topped of with 124grn +P Federal HST. :D

Correct. The type of ammo in most applications is more important than the calber.

Learn something new every day. Like I said it made a good bludgeon. Mine is long gone. It was just plain to heavy for the size/caliber. Seems like my SA LW Champion carries easier than the AMT did.
I almost dropped the hammer on a NAA32 last week. Mint condition, went for a lousy $206 on GB from a shop I have done a lot of business with. With 60grn HP bullets they are potent little SOBs. Check the lastest American Rifleman for a non comprehensive ballistic test of ammunition. Of course you can't beat the larger calibers for 1 shot stops. 45ACP in HST, STX or the "winter" round I found from a small company do the trick. With the loonies coming out of the woodwork I go nowhere (unless banned by law) without protection. Have religously since 9/11. My sister: but you're retired now, me: the crooks haven't retired...

I have an old Lee Pro 1000 that I bought new when I lived in NH - around '90. There is over 8K rounds through it so far. New shell plates and dies/die carrier should do it but sorting brass would be an even bigger pain when I have to sort for caliber AND condition!:lol:

I kno. I believe Dillion has a machine or simple contraption for that. Kinda on the coin counter principal, IIRC.
