Bernie and I were married 37 years ago on 27 September 1975. :lovies:

Seems like just yesterday. We told the kids that it was 28 years just to see if they could do the math on their birthdays. ;)

Not sure how she has managed to put up with me for this long; but I am glad she did.

We still enjoy each other's company and like doing things together. Fortunately, she also enjoys my Marauder obsession and has lots of fun at Marauder events like MV10, 9, 8, 7, 5 ......

Some people are just made for each other. You and Bernie are a perfect example of that. There is nothing in this world as deeply satisfying as a really great marriage and that's clearly what the two of you have. It's obvious to anyone who has had the pleasure of your company that you adore each other and the years together have only strengthened and deepened your love. But enough of my gushing....Happy Anniversary Charlie and Bernie!

Some people are just made for each other.

Thanks gang. Much appreciated. I think we make a good pair because she offsets my problems areas ... of which are numerous. :D

Not sure that this would be classified as "Love at First Sight". Had to work on it considerably.

Met her outside a Pizza Shop during the summer of 1971. She was driving a 1968 Pontiac LeMans Convertible (hers). I was riding shotgun in a 1969 Boss 302 Mustang (not mine). I had just finished up 8 weeks of US Army Basic Training at Indiantown Gap Military Reservation (IGMR) in Pennsylvania (actually ROTC Advanced Camp) prior to entering my senior year in college.

She looks over and starts laughing  "Do you always wear your hair like that?" I was sporting a "high & tight" haircut left over from training. Actually I had about 5 days of growth so it was longer than usual. ;) This was during the hippie and long hair days of the late 60s and early 70s.

"I just got back from Army training", says I. "You don't look old enough for that", says she then follows up with "Let me see your ID card". This is the only time I have ever been carded for age when meeting a girl for the first time. I was about 2 weeks shy of 21 at the time.

We talked for about 5 minutes until her 3 girlfriends came out of the pizza shop. As they readied to leave, I asked for her phone number. She says "I don't give my number to 'strange guys' in parking lots". This is NOT going very well at all.

In a last ditch effort to connect, I tell her that if she is "just a little bit" interested, that I will be at Buzzy's in Annapolis, MD across from the Naval Academy gate on the following night at 8:00 PM. She put her car in gear and pulled away without even acknowledging the comment. Damn!!!!! I think I blew that one.

On the next night, I was at Buzzy's early of course ..... she showed up at 8:35 PM as I was just about to give up hope. She got a little lost enroute. Of course, she wanted me to wait a bit too. The rest is history. We dated for just over 4 years. Broke up 4 times. Were engaged twice. Finally made the jump in 1975. I guess Happiness takes work and she didn't make it really easy for me at the start.

So how's that Whitey????
