2 weeks ago the weather had gotten so nice I decided to cruise Route 66 and get some pics of my Mustang

So last Friday it was such a nice day I decided to drive the Mustang to work... turned out that was a bad decision

Insurance called me today and said it's a total loss :(
The front end was pushed to the drivers side a couple inches and it doesn't drive straight down the road. I had the car for 10 years this month and she turned 21 on September 25th

What happened?

Don't give up on her.

I've seen worse.

It's only a loss in terms of how insurance looks at what they will repair based on the value of the vehicle and cost of repair. Get the car to a good bodyshop and have them do an estimate and then determine if it is worth bypassing the insurance company and fixing it yourself.
Having rebuilt many fox body mustangs from wrecks, based on the pictures I don't see that as being a total. It's amazing what a good frame technician and do.

:( Oh man. What a beautiful Fox body. I sure hope you can save it from the scrap heap. It sure looks like its worth saving.

Oh man that sucks!!
Such a nice car. I've got the same car in convertible form.
Like the other's say; it's only the insurance company giving up on her. Get a second or third opinion.
Good luck!

A good example for why you should look into "specialty" car insurance. Your's is old enough to qualify.
Agreed value (with apprasal) for the car = very low insurance costs. Plus, these companies will always try and fix after a smash-up. If they write it off at some point...then it was not savable.

To the insurance company your with now; the Mach1 rims are worth more than the entire car - dollar for dollar!

My red one in my signature was worse than yours and was rebuilt at the dealer with all ford parts. Other than some wrinkles in the lower core support you cannot tell. It is totally fixable.

I really feel your pain having to deal with insurance. You may have to take to insurance payment for the totaled car and then buy the car back from insurance. They will not insure it after they totaled it but there are many other companies out there that will. Also as mentioned get specialty insurance. After going thru the pain twice I learned my lesson. I have 4 of them insured under speciality. The mustang is insured for a stated value of $14,000 and only cost me $200 for the entire year and I can drive it without limitations year round.

FYI: to all Marauder owners using the limited production certificate I was able to insure the Marauder under the specialty insurance with a stated value and pay less than regular insurance was costing me for 6 months of insurance.

If we can help you negotiate with insurance in any way just ask here.

Buy it back and fix it. See if there is a parts car Fox Mustang out there and get what you need.

I'm looking into fixing up a rare colored '90 GT that comes with a 1988 parts car.

Same for me on both those points.
(My certificate was proof of production numbers on the Merc).

Insurance said they would just total it since the repairs were around $3800. I took it to a body shop who worked some magic and $2000 later

triolgy the marauder might be a hard task to do since they are no longer made in kits nomore

you will have to have one laying around or MAYBEEE someone still has a kit laying aroung that never got time/money to install....

or will have to buy a trilogy marauder already supercharged..

but i would also say just fix it since the car has so much setemental value to you since you said you have had it for 10 years now and its a 21 year old car..

the shape you kept that car is amazing for being a 21 year old car wowww

Damn that sucks. I agree with the others it doesn't look bad enough to total it but the insurance company's aren't car lovers they're money lovers. I'd try and buy it back from them and fix it even if you have to take your time doing it

Find someone out there who might want those T-bird/Cougar front seats. If I had a Mustang project to work on, I would make an offer for some of the wine red stuff.

i know you've heard it alot but you have to save that car. there are less and less clean fox mustangs out there. late model restoration sells everthing you need for the front of that car. would be a perfect time to have some of the shaves inner fenders welded in and a nice tubular k memeber set up from upr. look at it as a way to improve the car.
