Landy, PM Shermanator or Blown 3.8, either one should be able to help you out. I'm thinking Sherm's car is running 6" wide wheels on the front, but they can confirm that.

You can only narrow to 6" due to the shape of the hoop.

Thats what the rep said. I would think they have a way to modify the wheel to make it narrower. There alot of custom wheel companies that will make a wheel to the consumers expectations with a modified hoop. I suggested that and got a nay.

I found Eric Vaughn machine in California. I just spoke with him and he has done many mustang wheels, he said it can be done and stands behind it.

It has to do with the way the stock wheels hoop is manufactured, it is not flat, it tapers down towards the inside IIRC, It could be all cut out, and a new hoop welded in the middle. I have discussed this in length when I was up at Weldcraft's facility.

That said, anything can be had for enough money, time and effort. If you find a solution, please let the rest of us know.

I take it the narrow wheel is something you want for drag racing. Wouldn't it be easier to find a wheel that is the size you want and not cut up an expensive MM wheel? I assume you want to keep the MM look but I'm getting the impression a custom job is at hand and you are about to spend a fortune on something you are going to use but a few times a year. JMHO:)

Eric Vaughn cuts the wheel and welds a new inner side. He keeps the inner sides in stock since this has become more popular thru the years.
Price is very competitive to Weldcraft's.

I missed this thread originally. I want to say Sherm's are 5" but its been awhile.

The wheels themselves aren't much lighter than stock but you can lose some weight with the tire.

Landy, those welds are alot better than weldcrafts. Weldcraft went about it the wrong way I think. They fitted a smaller diameter to a bigger diameter and its a pretty fat weld.

They are! Its a one man operation too. Weldcraft wouldn't do it, they only agreed to 6" which didnt make $ sense to me for only 2 inches.

I have Sherm's wheel measuring I think 5" bead to bead and about 6.25" from the very outer edges. And a wheel weight by itself at 22lbs.

Landy, I suggest you run a bead of silicone around the weld just incase there is a pinhole.;)

Just measured mine, exactly 4 1/4" bead to bead and 5 3/8" wide from the outside edges.
For sure on the silicone Chris!
John they just weighted at 20lbs.
