View Full Version : My Son Is In Intensive Care

My son is critically ill in ICU at Stanford Hospital in Palo Alto,Ca.
He was hospitalized and placed under sedation with a breathing tube in his lungs with some so far unknown type of infection and pulmonary embolisms (blot clots) in both lungs going on two weeks ago this Thursday night.
So far he's made amazing progress and the ventilator tube has been removed and although he's still getting oxygen is breathing much better.
His right lung is healing well when he's able to get sleep and rest but he's been having problems, sometimes very bad, with ICU Psychosis thinking the nurses mean to harm him and it's extremely hard to see him suffering thru this. They can sedate him as his getting rest helps tremendously but sedation only causes other problems.
So please,if you're someone who prays prayers for him and his girlfriend (a real Tiger,I have to pry her from his side) to give her strength and keep her well and for strength, and knowledge for the entire staff and Doctors at Stanford would be most appreciated.
Thanks,
Uncle Lar

Prayers sent.
The dementia in the hospitals is rough on all involved. I am shocked how common it is.
Hang in there..

Thought and prayers for your son and the family/friends as he goes through this ordeal. Hope they figure out what caused the problem so they can address it directly. Sounds terrible and the side effects of sedation don't help the situation.

Thank the Lord and you all for your prayers and positive thoughts,my son Jason is out of the ICU and in Intermediate Care Now fully conscious, off of oxygen, talking and coherent and actually eating solid foods now.
Today he was pretty shaky but managed to walk around the ward twice.
Now that he's able to rest he improves daily in large leaps and bounds.
It will still be some time before he's back home and done with physical therapy but he's out of the woods.
He still has occasional anxiety causing him to believe the nurses mean to harm him but a tremendous team of doctors there got the right amount and types of meds for him so the problem is greatly diminished.I personally think a lot of this is subconscious from him having watched that darn movie Coma, that's about enough to give anyone in or going into a hospital nightmares.
Thank you so much,Uncle Lar

Once again I want to thank God for laying His healing hands on my son and all of you for your prayers and well wishes.
He's home now.eating, walking some, talking and just plain enjoying no longer being in the noisy hospital with tubes down in his lungs, nose and stomach and EIGHT IV's flowing into him.
The entire staff at Stanford was terrific in caring for him and as he was recovering I would stop anyone in the hallways wearing a hospital ID badge and thank them for giving me back my son, everyone from the cleaning staff who emptied waste baskets or cleaned the bathrooms, swept the floors all the way through the doctors because each and every one of them did their job and worked as a team so all the others could perform their jobs to the best of their abilities. Some people were pretty surprised when I thanked them and I guess I made their day but not nearly as much as they made my mine.
So,Jason is home, resting better in his own bed, doing physical therapy and eating like a horse. It will still be a while before he's as healthy as he was before all this but he'll get there. :burnout:
