I was walking up to my car after a mind numbing 4 hour meeting and was reminded of the reason that we park far away.

Not me. I have had much better luck the last few years parking with the masses. Years ago I did just that and it never failed, some dip**** would park next to it and put a nick in it or I would find shopping carts right next to it. Less damage just blending in it seems.

Seems like a damn if you do or damn if you don't.......
+1 on parking far away as possible from the overpopulated areas. Peace of Mind!
Also, I get a little exercise and I can smell the roses.......

I park way out. And take up multiple spots if theres plenty of parking. Don't needing my car getting any more scratches. And yes I make it look like I parked terribly because I'm a bad driver to hopefully prevent the people who park close to others that park far away to think twice about it

... and why we bought the MM in the first place. I still feel the same way after 9 years. It is a damn fine looking car from any distance.

Yeah, that ^^^^^ has happened to me on occasion. You park way the heck out in the north-40 away from everyone and come out to find a banged up 3-tone Honda Civic POS parked right next to you with 100 other spots open nearby. WTF ?????

We did that with Rosa's Infiniti, parked it way out of the way at Best Buy and came out to find that some biatch had hit the rear bumper with her jacked up Jeep and we had only had it for 6 days!! Luckily some one saw the incident and left a note with her plate on it. Got it fixed at her cost. And of coarse she denied it saying that she didnt park next to ours and she was 3 spots over....what a moron.

My lot at work is shared with a train station parking lot and a Rent-A-Car lot......
Every day I cram the beast in the corner as far as possible. I literally get to work early to keep it away from rental car users who don't care about anything and commuters that are in a hurry.
Terrifying :bigcry:

While I get where your coming from I have seen to many cars over the years that take up more than one spot whether there are lots to pick from and especially if there aren't get keyed. People just assume your an asshat if you do this no matter what your reasoning is. Just be careful :)

My girlfriend yells at me every time i park and says, "stop parking in Narnia". I just look at her and go you'll survive. :)

Oh yeah.
I get a "Ration" from my wife and kids.
I just tell them that it's a rule with MM.net that we have to park far away.
They don't believe me.

Hmmm good point. I was just hoping they'd be afraid of me running into them seeing as I was parking like I suck at driving. I may need to change that though

I was going to mention this - I try to pick a spot (I'm like a dog getting ready to lie down) that offers me some protection:
Not in the middle of nowhere - Where some numbnut, cutting across the parking lot will nail me.
Up against a concrete curb (Driver's side open) so that the curb/and possible light are a signal of danger to the driver (if my car isn't).
Make it look like you meant to be there.
You can tell that I have a very dim view of drivers.

That's because 90% of them are pretty dim anyway. I really don't know how many of them managed to pass the driver's test unless they got someone else to do it for them (both parts .... written and practical).

Okay, my story (was too pissed to tell it earlier this year) 9 COUNT THEM 9 days after my TUX paint job, went to local movie theater, parked all the way out, took 2 spots, no cars within 30 spaces.....
Was keyed starting back drivers door all the way back to the tail light...
had those panels repainted..... steaming mad, but what you do....
BTW, please don't be the idot that keys someone elses car in front of me, it might be a fatal act!

I simply just don't park the car anywhere. I don't take it shopping, I don't even make runs to the store with it. I just leave it in the garage or park among fellow marauder owners or car enthusiasts at car shows. The psycho factor in my head over this car is a bit scary.

Paul -
You're in a whole other situation in NYC/Queens/Long Island/Etc.
In Joisey, we're on top of each other.
In your part of the woods, you're packed in TIGHT.
Keep your baby safe.
