View Full Version : tried something new with the front emblem mod

so the p.o. of my mm painted the front emblem black. most of the paint had shipped of and it looked terrible so i pulled it off and sanded it down with some 320 grit sand paper intending to repaint it. turned out awesome i think. it looks like brushed aluminum and the mercury is now black and so is the inlay behind the m. then i cleared it, im torn on clearing it but its done now lol. it looks awesome both ways i think. what do you guys thing?

Not to highjack but there are a lot of little things you can do for next to no$$'s if you really put your mind to it!

well heres what i actually ended up with, after i cleared it with urethane clear the old rattle can black was un happy and wrinkled. lol. so when i stripped the thing back down it ended up the chrome under the black had never been sanded and looked pretty cool too. the guys i work with talked me into leaving it.

I didn't strip it, I just stripped the black paint I sanded the chrome to get the look thats in the pictures

It looks really good. Now you need you make the rest of the chrome on your car have the "brushed" appearance to match;)

All I really have is the wheels lol and im working on a set of 18x9.5 wheels that are black:)
