I went to my local Discount tire yesterday to inquire about new rears. I went thinking the Cooper R3 and left learning about the Nitto Motivo.
I want to stay with stock size and the Nitto offeres this tire in the stock rear and front.
Have you heard anything about this tire?
Cost was $195 rear (about $15 more per tire than Cooper) and around $170 for fronts (a smidge cheaper than the cooper)
I have not seen any chatter about this tire on the board and is very possible I just missed it.

Not on car yet. What ever tire I decide on will be installed Monday after SSHS.
And wanted to get the feedback from the group. We seem to have some folks that are good at knowing what is best and what is junk. I trust their judgement. So far I like what I see about this tire. Or at least the sales guy has done a good job selling me on this vs. the cooper.

speed rating??
W or Y, depending in size.
I glanced through a couple of reviews, and they are getting good feedback from the folks that have tested them.

YES! Finally a thread on these tires! I asked about these about a year and half ago and got no response. I think the Motivos are either a new name or an upgrade for the Nitto NT850 series (which I am very happy with!)
I've been looking at these tires since they have the required speed rating as the stock BFG (W Rating) and much better than the V rating on the Nitto 420s
and also as was mentioned above they are All Season. Please let me know how you like them because they will most likely be the next tires I purchase for my car. thank you!

Thanks for all the feedback. Since they come in the stock size, I will be getting these. I've heard a lot of chatter on the board about other sizes of Nitto's and all was positive.
I think the cooper is a good tire and if it was not for this tire having the stock sizes I would have purchased the cooper and I'm sure I would love them.
Thanks,

Looks like a good choice! You can't go wrong with Nitto's. I have a set of the 555's (extreme summer only) and like them, many others have the 420s etc. Let us know how the ride is, and how stiff is the sidewall. Good move getting them AFTER SSHS..:burnout:

Nice! I have the NT850's and while I like they are 500 Tread rating the 255/55/18's feel a bit sloppy on the back at higher speed than the 420's did.
I just want to punch Mr. Babcock in the nuts for allowing this STUPID size discrepancy. It is one of the major pitfalls of Marauder ownership.

For the staggered tire sizes, the choice of 245/55's in the rear, or the selection of BFGs for OEM tires?

From a family member. Thats a regional sales manager for ATD(American tire distributors) the Motivo is the same tire as the NT850. The NT850 is distributed only through ATD. The Motivo can be purchased through any other tire wholesaler that deals in Nitto tires

Using a goofy ass size, under sized wheels (should have put 9") on the back. AND the discrepancy in height.
BTW you can't get NT850 in a 245/55. My guy checked for me before I ordered them. I am excited they have the 245/55 though.
For the record I hate the 255/55 tires. Reminds me of driving my Foxbody with aired down slicks. I would run the Nitto 555's but I don't have the coin for a set of winter tires/wheels and my car is a daily/work car.

I had the tires installed Wednesday afternoon and so far the biggest difference I have noticed over the stock BFG's is the lack of noise. The BFG was very noisy (even the Dyno guy said "these tires are loud"). No noise from the Nittos.

Lol I always said those are "truck tires" :D
You could get Nitto 555 265-55-18 in the rear and 245-55-18 fronts.
Mike MM2004 has this setup.

You mean your unevenly worn out tires were noisy? Perish the thought!
I see so many comments about stock, but worn out parts, and how awful they are. "My stock tires/brakes/shocks were worn out so I replaced them with Nittos/drilled rotors/Monroe shocks and they are so much better!" Comparisons between stock/aftermarket parts should compare new parts.
I hope the Nittos are good and give us another option. I tried Yokohoma Advan 255/55R18 and was not at all impressed. Trying Firestones now.
I, for one, have never driven a tire better than BFG, and I have tried a few different types. They have an excellent sidewall, rigidity and grip.
Too bad the BFG's are out of print. I would like to find tires as good as they were.

Perhaps you could apply your binary editor to the ABS and Traction Control, reprogramming for equal tire sizes?
