Haven't seen one of the new Taurus Interceptors until today, not bad without the paint scheme and lights

These are some of the quickest police cars ever. Who'd have thunk it?

My department has one that we are testing. Regular v6 AWD. It does great around our driving course. It's good to about 100mph then it falls off. It takes forever to get to the speed limiter of 130. They will be great for around town. Highway Patrol needs the Ecoboost. Right now our Highway Patrol is only buying Dodges with a Hemi.

Overall I like the way it drives and handles!

You would think the ecoboost would have been a slam dunk in a interceptor but I guess it boils down to cash as usual

This has total FAIL written all over it for the big city PDs that buy most of these! i thought they would have learned after the FWD Impalas!

I don't know ... I kinda like the lights and paint. Would look especially nice with a Maryland State Police paint job.

Saw this at Carlisle this year .....

Apparently, Prince William County VA got at least some of the new Taurus' police cars. My son took these about 10 minutes ago. I like it; but would have preferred larger "POLICE" on the side straddling both doors with the county name at the bottom near the indent.

Well, I don't know what could be a durable as a Panther... besides maybe an '85 Impala or something equally basic.

I think the regular Interceptor is fine but nothing very exciting. The EcoBoost version though, especially with AWD, seems incredible.

Perhaps in big cities there's little room for all of its acceleration, and perhaps the snow rarely gets deep enough to benefit from the AWD, the EcoBoost has little advantage. But much of the country isn't big cities... and the new car is a major advancement.

Will the new one still run at 100,000 miles? I dunno, but I doubt many deparments keep them longer than that unless they've just been highway patrol cars... so I'm not sure it matters to the people the buy them "new"... and that's Ford's customer.

Va. needs to get rid of those Red lights on top of police cars----they can't seem to make up their minds---those old red lights go back to the '70's when I was there--time to move up and realize the current status!!!!

I seem to recall that Michigan also has some of those old fashioned red bubble light on the room.

VA lights are red and blue and white strobes. What's wrong with that? I heard that in NC, they are moving toward pink and purple and unicorn and fairy designs. :P Is that true, Tinkerbell?? ;)

VSP (VA State Police) have a couple Taurus' working the beat now. I always see the one on the Dulles Greenway, and today heading I66 West to 81 South there was a Taurus Police Interceptor pulled a guy over on the Eastbound lane

This is the same County that some years back bought a Z28 of the Sho-room floor added the Radio and lights and soon became one of the Countys :burnout:::Finest

To be honest they remind me of the FWD Impala police cars. Oh well, thats the future I guess.

I saw an all black one a little while ago and it looked freaking mean. I wouldn't mind getting to test drive one with the ecoboost. Lombard PD has one with their paint and it looks nice actually. But I heard it doesn't have as much room as the panthers did. And I'm guessing they cheaped out and didn't get ecoboost:( Ford should do like Chevy is not charge more for the better engine so the departments don't have to cheap out just because the engines a little more $ they can all choose the ecoboost so hopefully in a few years I'll be able to afford to get one of these bad boys as an all weather DD

I get to drive one every day. :D Plently of power and even more available with a tune from Livernois. As for room, it is as big or bigger inside as the Marauder. Plenty of rear seat room too. The Taurus SHO is actually 250 pounds more than the Marauder. Only drawback is the number and size of the blind spots when compared to visibility from the MM. Oh yeah, the V6 doesn't give the same roar as the V8 ... but the neck snap is definitely in the Taurus court. The trunk in the Taurus is huge. Almost 50% to 75% larger than the Marauder if you can believe that.
