To run a propane fireplace which will be used ornamentally, they want to install a 120 gallon, below ground tank. Are you *(^%ing serious? Possibly as high as $2000 for install? Wheres the closet lunatic asylum, because I'll check in before I pay that.

I do however have a plan. I've installed gas appliances before. Hahahaha and it will conform to the HOA. :D

Thats the way it should have been. I wish the inspector would have said something more about it. The fireplace is one of the top 5 reasons I bought that particular home. I could have had a house with a real fireplace, but knowing that they really do not work that well for heating and only draft out your heat when not in use, I opted for the gas.

Any reason they won't let you run off a 35 or 100 gallon upright tank? My Mom runs here gas fireplace and a heater on the porch off the same tanl as her stove.

HOA Rules Paul. It seems there is very little zoning, so the HOAs act as zoning. I'm thinking of a upright tank, I believe in the 50-75 gallon range, painted as the foliage it will be behind. I have connected gas appliances before so thats no biggie. Just need a couple fittings, the correct size LP nipple and a few feet of bendable 3/8" copper tubing. Soap suds it for testing and done. The people down the street put in a pool and a privacy fence in controversion of the rules and it slid. Can't see how this would be that big a deal.

As I said Haggis I know how to do this and have installed gas appliances before. I will make no more dangerous than hooking up a barbq grill. Boom, boom out go the lights.

Think about what you are doing, working carefully, testing for leaks after your done... not really hard at all. Converted my gas grill, oil less fryer and patio heater from LPG to NG wasn't hard at all... even drilling out the jet(s).
